  • nice family restaurant
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/07
we started coming back to villa romana about a year ago. don't ask me why, we just stopped going. so, my husband and i were driving on irving street back in november, and he said, why don't we go to villa anymore? so i said let's go back. It was great as always. the family is still very hospitable, and the head waiter, sam is still great.

  • Shockingly bad

I felt like i was in bizzaro world because i read all these fabulous reviews first. So yes my expectations were that high. I'm an original New Yorker but a many years' resident of SF, always searching for authentic old world style Italian food. When I saw the reviews i thought i found the place. I was shocked. The chicken parmesan looked ...

    Dear management,

We've dined at Villa Romana for many years and there was a great waiter working there for awhile, that always made our evening very special. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny and his service was always flawless. We always enjoyed his recommendations and we recommended your restaurant to many other people because of his ...

  • Exquisite Food
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/06
This restaurant offers some of the most exquisite Italian Food i have ever had. i mean it is just fantastic.

The Bistecca Alla Fiorentina reminds me of My Florence, italy days, but also exceeds one of the best meals of my life, which i had in Florence.

The service was also top-notch. They are very attentive, friendly, and know when not to hover and stay away.

  • 50 Years of Great Food!!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/09/06
I am always looking out for the perfect institutional restaurant...."Restaurants with Staying Power and respect in their community"

Well, Villa Romana is just that!
The only problem that I have noticed, and can see in some of the unfounded negative reviews on here, are that it's just too small, and much too popular!

    They do the ...

My boyfriend and I went there for Valentine's Day and it was not a very pleasant experience. We made reservations there so that we could eat Italian Food but the menu they gave us was a special menu for Valentine's Day. As we were looking through the menu, on the bottem it read that we can request for the regular menu... now we can order ...

  • The Best Italian Food
    By avilaunch, 09/22/05
The pizza here is great, as is the service and ambiance. We finished our dinner with esspresso from the fancy brass esspresso machine. The Tonys took great care of us.

  • Awful
    By Katie, 08/15/05
This was my first and last trip ever to this awful establishment. They do not have genuine olive oil on the tables. It seems to be some sort of generic vegetable oil. It has no taste and none of the lovely golden color of normal olive oil.
The next tragedy was the arrival of the Caprese Salad. It was served with beefsteak tomatoes, instead of the ...

  • Great hidden gem in Inner Sunset
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/15/05
Located in the restaurant-happy 9th and Irving area of San Francisco, this unassuming little eatery is easily overlooked. I had certainly never noticed it on my way to its more popular neighbors like Chow and the always-packed Naan and Curry.

So when I agreed to meet my friend Kate there, I had no idea what to expect. When I got there, I was ...

    This restaurant is truly great!
From the great authentic Italian Food, to the wonderful service and atmosphere, it's got to be one of the best Italian Restaurants in San Francisco.
They are celebrating 50 years on April 20th of this year. I can't wait to go!
