I just got back from Barcelo Solymar yesterday and had the time of my life.

It was my third time in Varadero. Compared the the other resorts I stayed at (Sol Sirenas Coral and Playa De Oro), Barcelo is in another league.

The service right from the start was terrible...we waited over an hour just to check in. Then went to our room, which had 2 single beds in it...and the front desk told us that only 15/285 rooms had queen sized beds in them, and it would 'not be possible' for us to have one.

January 11-18, 2008 Most of the staff are excellent...if you tip lots of pesos.  But we didn't mind that considering they only make around 10-15 pesos per month.  The beach well, it is in varadero..beautiful!!  The pools at this resort are ok, but  very shallow, like knee deep.  The food was O.K. we had better service and food at Playa ...

This is our 7th trip to the same resort.
We can't wait to get back. We have made
alot of friends there. They are beautiful
people ie(Conche, Mario, George, Onay).
We will see them very soon. In other
words, 2weeks is not enough for us.
For the new guests, there is plenty
to do and see. The food is wonderful,
we managed to put on 10LBs everytime we
visit and that's not all booze. This is
a definite 5 star resort..........ENJOY

we had a great time, weather was awesome, and the service was superb. We went on a tour to Cayo Blanco and swam with the dolphins,and took a tour of Havana, People are so friendly here.
