A great for romantic diner with a lovely decor very well decorated.
Only concerns, it is often crowded so you have to make reservation. It is also a bit noisy during the week-end, so choose a weekday if you are looking for a quiet diner.

By the way, the food is excellent, fine and flavored. The chief is, without contest, one of the most famous of SF.

  • Excellent food and fun atmosphere

Very rarely is everything you order at a restaurant fabulous, and at Ana Mandara it was! The lobster ravioli and the black sticky rice are not to be missed. Upscale dining experience, but worth saving up for.

  • "Authentic" Settings Upstage the Cuisine
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/09/06
Ana Mandara certainly rises above its lackluster neighbor restaurants in Ghirardelli Square, however I wish that alone said more for this modern take on Vietnamese cuisine. Recreating a grandiose colonial estate, complete with a courtyard and multi-level house containing a bar and private dining rooms, the surroundings, though perhaps a bit ...

  • Nice Ambiance
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/21/06
We arrived a bit early so went up to the piano bar & lounge. The view is very nice, attentive service with soothing, relaxing live music. We were seated at a charming, somewhat private table. Immediately we noticed the decor surrounded by candle-lit ambiance. The food was spectacular and couldn't help but enjoy the well-thought-out wine menu. The chef focused on every detail. Check it out, you'll enjoy it too!

  • Great Decor, Great Service, Moderately Good Food
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/15/06
The biggest draw for this restaurant, other than its idyllic location in Ghirardelli square, is the decor. Ana Mandara is certainly well-appointed to say the least, with lush batik woodwork and a beautiful jazz lounge. It also boasts some remarkable table service that is both attentive and fast.

Food quality is somewhat debatable, however. I ...

This restuarant has taken Thai cuisine to a level that will delight your taste buds.
I live in Oregon. If I lived in SF I would be eating at Ana Mandara so often I would have to get a second job! Exquisite meal. And the service was fine.
