This place may look small from the outside, but the food makes it larger than life! Hands down the BEST restaurant in Tacoma. I am originally from North Carolina, and this place has the closest thing to Grandmas cooking that I can find. If you want to feel like a true southerner, you MUST try the fried catfish, fried okra, and mashed potatoes. Don't forget to get a big mason jar full of sweet tea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 of 1 Yahoo! Southern Kitchen is without a doubt the BEST restaurant in Washington! The food is delicious but what keeps me coming back even more than the food is the outstanding customer service. Down home Southern cooking at it's best. I'm ashamed to say that I've lived in Tacoma my entire life and today was the first time I visited Southern Kitchen in my 35 years. Southern cooking at its finestThis place was amazing. By far it has been the closest to Southern cooking my wife and I have found up North. Being from Memphis myself, I can honestly say that this place reminds me of dinners back at home. WE are living soon to go back to Florida but will miss this place. You have to tryIt may be a small place, but don't let looks deceive you. Step inside and the smell will have your mouth watering. They have a lot of your guilt pleasures of southern food. I'm dead and in heavenSouthern kitchen was an eating experience similar to visiting a favorite family member who knows how to really 'burn' - chicken with that 'dirty' scald, and chops that had me lickin' mine, all washed down with a cool and aromatic down home strawberry lemonade. I am dead, aren't I? But if you are still alive find your way here and kick back for some good southern vittles you won't find anywhere else around here.OVERALL
