The current description states that there is a cigar lounge. Fortunately, the laws were changed a few years back, and smoking is no longer allowed indoors. You might want to update your information.

The food is good, the service solicitious (if a little snooty, at times) but El Gaucho is overpriced, especially since everything is a la carte. And ...

I never been so disappointed with a dinner. They have there regulars and if you are not one....they will make you fell that way. Ruth Chris is so much better.

The Christmas Eve service and food was exactly what I was expecting - MARVELOUS! El Gaucho remains my absolute favorite restaurant in Seattle. We are moving out of state soon and I knew that I just had to dine here again before we left. I love the open room - it makes me feel like this is a place to see and be seen!

    Even though it was ...

What a joke.. the service staff was awful. Actually snickered when my not as educated date ordered a bottle of $45 wine.. which was the lower priced bottles... i knew it was expensive but no one should feel like they were laughed at. Shame on you all for making someone feel badly about only spending $250 in your restaurant.

The food was outstanding, the service was phenomenal, but the music was too loud. I couldn't hear my husband across the table. Music should be in the background, not so loud that you can't hear yourself think.
Enjoy everything that this restaurant has to offer, just know ahead of time that the volume will be equivalent to that of a rock concert.

Can you say hoity toity? Good, I knew you could. :) Thank goodness for expense accounts is the first thing. My co-worker and I even blew past our limit on this one; I even kept the receipt as a souvenir! Great steak and pretty good escargot. The sommelier and our waiter were great, but can I say you know the lighting is bad when a sniper school ...

Have been to them all! El Gaucho cannot be beat for ambiance, service, food quality. The Metropolitan Grill has nothing on this place! Have eaten at El Gaucho many, many times, never disappointed. Be sure to try the exceptional chateaubriand for two, made-by-the-bowl clam chowder, fresh and delicious Ceaser salad, and the incomparable Bananas Foster for dessert. THE BEST STEAK HOUSE WEST OF THE ROCKIES, and maybe beyond.

  • Best Steak in town
    By ME ME ME, 10/02/05
Where do you start when a place does everything right? The ambiance is 1950's Hollywood or Havana without the smoke filled air. The food is extraordinary. The staff are top-drawer, intuitive and knowledgeable. If your staying downtown, let the on-site limo service take you home. The only thing I could think about changing is the table-side ...

  • The best restaurant and steak in town!
    By James, 10/01/05
El Guacho is our favorite restaurant. The menu is fantastic. The service is the best. The restaurant mood and decor is top notch. Oh and the steak is the best you'll ever have. I have even set up a group table of 10 where the people of El Guacho served us like Kings and Queens. We reserved the wine cellar room and my guests and wife had a great time. Hands down the best in Seattle.
