I first went to the Hukilau in 2008 while there for the Pro Bowl. By the time we got there they were closed but the people there were great and stopped working to chat with us a while. Later in 2008 I returned with my family. The lady working actually remembered my from my first visit. The entire family was thrilled with the food and the ...

It is hard for me to believe that anybody could talk badly about the Hukilau! My family fell in love with this place and it became a mainstay of our breakfast outings. Yes, they are closed on Sunday and Monday, but they are open the other days until 2 p.m.
Nothing fake or forced about the wait staff, or the cafe, for that matter. What you see ...

My familys highlight of our vacation! Hukilau Cafe is truly the best place to eat in Hawaii! The service was great (the mam running the place was so friendly and funny), and the food was delicious. The Hawaiian French Toast is the best!! I wish there was a Hukilau Cafe in Maryland I would eat there everyday. Great Cafe!

Today I called the Hukilau Café at 10:20 AM to make sure they were still open, the lady who answered the phone told me they would be open for another 15 minutes. I arrived at the packed Café at 10:30 to place a to-go order and I was rudely told by the same lady that they were closed. This is the second time this has happened to me in two weeks. ...

The French Toast is "Da Bomb" !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/30/07
It's a small place with a local feel and they treat everyone like you're from there. We came from the mainland, and the waitress was awesome. She was great for recommending what we should try and was great to talk to. The french toast is awesome! It was made from sweet bread and they serve you 3 thick slices. Yes, you do eat off of foam ...
Great food. Had a little problem with order but staff handled it professionally in correcting the order. Respectfully complained and respectfully was serviced.
The Hukilau Cafe is wonderful...If you are looking for locale dining, where everyone knows each other this is the place. Our family goes there regularly when we are in town. The girls that work there work their tails off and the food portions are hugh and tasty. We have always been treated like family when we are there. We love it !!!!!!!!!!
Being from this town, My family and I have dined at the Hukilau Cafe for many years. We have also traveled all around the United Stated and lived in other places on Oahu and it seems as though we've always come back to our roots and the Hukilau Cafe has been part of that way of life that we're accustomed too.
Remember the scene from Fried Green Tomatos? The Whistle Stop Cafe? There is something about the Hukilau Cafe that is reminiscent of that movie...it must be the great home cooking, down to earth friendly service, and the local charm of the nearby residents that make you feel you really are experiencing Hawaii. It's hot, noisy, rustic and ...
