The food is some of the best I've had. Unlike most chinese restaurants where every dish seems to share the same taste, all of Fred's dishes are unique and flavorful. General's chicken, pork chow fun, pot stickers, hot and sour soup are some of my favorites..

I will agree with the other reviewers that the service is not four star and parking is rough. As to the parking issue: it's Nevada City people. Park at one of the parking areas and walk there. As to the service: the waitresses we have had are always clean, friendly, and helpful with menu suggestions. That's good enough for us.

Fred's is the best Chinese restaurant in the area. The food is affordable (especially for Nevada City!) and is consistently good. Definitely try the General's Chicken and the Cream Cheese Rangoons!

YUK and did I say YUK? What a dinner, mush and old smelled funny and left. Cannot tell you how it tasted could not get it any closer to my nose. Never again, would not even walk by the front door again.
It may even take me a year to try eating Szechuan again, did I say yuk? My dog even ran.

The best place in town to eat dinner. Hard to park, but well with teh hassel. I rate by the Pot Sticker and tehy get 2 thumbs up.

One of the best Chinese resturants we've eaten in. What Fred's lack in decor is more than made up for in flavor. They also have a very large vegetarian menu! Prices are more than reasonable.
