We ate dinner here on a saturday night, and the place was full of people. There isn't really a place to stand while you wait for a table due to the small confines of the restaurant. Overall it has about 12-15 tables that are packed closely together.
We were seated and then had to wait quite a ...

Take it or leave it

I've been to this restaurant twice and both times had extremely different experiences. First time fabulous flavorful Cuban style food and a soft quiet atmosphere, second time obnoxiously loud patrons and bland food...so I have to say hit or miss with this one. Great Sangria though.

Great Food and Great Atmosphere

One of the better cuban restaurants I have been to....Try the excellent mojito drinks (a bit pricey) and sauted mushrooms and onions in a wonderful wine sauce starter. The wait staff while very helpful were a bit slow with the food.

decent latin food

Good ambiance, good loud latin music playing in the background, not too formal and eclectic decor. The Mojitos and yucca fries were very good. The seafood stew thing we ordered came late and lacked salt. The flank steak dish though was very good. Dishes are expensive though for the quality and place.

yummy tapas, love the white wine sangria!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/16/05
charanga has a great vibe, all low lights and slightly funky decor. the tapas are on the lighter side--not too greasy, which i love. i'd never had white wine sangria before i came here, but i think i prefer it! red wine sangria can taste like cloying fruit punch, but white wine sangria is more like a cool glass of yummy lemonade. this is a wonderful, slightly hidden spot to grab a bite in the mission.

yucca yucca doo!

Cuban inspired tapas with some real gems: fried yucca, seafood stew (bland name for such an incredible dish), doublefried plantains... loud, casual, fun.

Insane (!) ahi tuna, Costra Rican/Cuban inspired tapas, great place to converse loudly and hang with friends.

in the mission, charanga is a great place for tapas and sangria. a great venue for groups and small groups as it is no so loud that you cannot have a conversation...

Great food and vibe.

A festive atmosphere. If you're looking for fresh Cuban food with flair...this is it. If only they had my cuban espresso as well...it would be perfect. But, the sangria is a good substitute in the interim!

this place is a gem. it's not too fancy or formal, but the food is delicious and the people watching is pretty good.
