Azie is my favorite restaurant in the city. As a Mid-westener, I am very picky. Especially when it comes to foreign cuisine, but my tastebuds were absolutely blown away by the unique blending of flavors and the exquisite sauces. The atmosphere is very apeasing, but my attention was continuously drawn to the open view of the amazingly talented line cooks preparing the meals (noteably the adorable pantry/sautee chef)!

New chef Yo Matsuzaki presents delicious and innovative combinations. I was reluctant to order the green curry duck. We have Thai all the time. But his version of curry had a Chinese flair to it--hints of anise and cinnamon--made the best curry I've had in a long time. Another thing we enjoyed was his use of spice. I usually shy away from ...

  • let down
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/20/06
Azie's was such a letdown for us. Four very UNimpressed foodies. The food is what you'd expect from a FUZION motivated restaurant. Just a mish-mash of cuisine trying to pass itself OFF as inventive. Don't waste your time or money.

  • Impeccable service and great beef short ribs

I really enjoyed their Beef short ribs: litterally melt in your mouth. Their dessert line-up is also impressive. Go for the bread pudding.

  • Family style means you get to try a lot more!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/05
Azie has a limited menu so that means if you go in a reasonable sized group, you'll end up trying almost everything on the menu. This is not necessarily a bad thing. I've since gone back just to have some more of the same. Their fish dishes are particularly good and their steak is also surprisingly good.

As stated, they serve their food ...

  • Awesome Service
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/31/05
We went to Azie for a celebratory dinner. The food was fabulous, but even better was the service. Our waiter was knowledgable and helped us select just the right wines for our meals, keeping our price range in mind (and didn't make us feel cheap, either). The decor is stylish, and it felt like a big night out - where other places with a similar price range can feel less special.

  • Excellent Food & Service!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/05
Went here for dinner on a Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The waitress recommended the ribs, saying you could eat it with a spoon, and she was right-- it just melted off the bone and in your mouth- delicious! The food came up very quickly, almost too fast, but I would never complain about that. The ambiance was just ok-- expected it to be a little more bustling on a Fri night. Overall though, very recommended.

  • Incredible
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/16/04
Ate here a couple weeks ago, and needless to say, it was probably one of my best meals I've had in San Francisco. And I like to eat. ;-) Our waitress (Michelle?) was excellent: informed, friendly, attentive. My visit here left nothing to be desired (expect maybe a cheaper bill!). If you can, try to get a private booth with a curtain. We weren't able to get one but still loved our table anyway.
