This restaurant has high ceilings lending its interior a grand spacious feeling of warmth and intimacy. Definitely a good place to bring someone for a romantic dinner!

Yesterday I went for lunch. They had a 3 course prix fixe lunch and Hawaiian Swordfish as a special which came with soup or salad. Both options looked good but I was craving bacon. I had the BLT which was incredible on great bread. The soup was tortilla soup which warmed me up. The waitstaff were great. I had coffee and creme brulee for dessert. ...

The salmon with carrots and bacon pieces was exquisite. My mouth is watering now as I remember it. The service as good. The live jazz was refreshing to hear. We had a very entertaining evening. Our table shared the cheese plate with wine after dinner and talked and laughed for hours. We never got the feeling once that we had to leave because it was getting late. This place is a must for friends or dates.

Being a pretty good cook myself, I often feel I should have eaten at home. But not after eating at Oak City. The scallops and butternut squash is delicious and, my favorite, spinach salad with pears is heaven! Last week I had the salmon which was pink and tender and cooked just right. The service is warm and friendly. This could become a habit.

My family and I make special trips from the central valley just to have a nice dinner there...Well I can say we WILL NOT be back..The old chef Kerry was remarkable!!..My mother in laws food was cold and the bun on my daughters hambuger was so bruned she could not eat it...my food was blaah with little flavor...and to boot the chairs are very unsturdy..

Since it opened we have gone several times and enjoyed it but the past few times noticed that things have slipped - a lot. On our past two (maybe three) visits the service has been slow, and they were out of something on the menu. I had to find the waiter to take our order and get my wife's coat when we were leaving.
The crowd has been ...

You have to be a regular

The Oak City Bar and Grill is not friendly to people who don't frequent it often. I, on the other hand, love it there because the bartenders know exactly what I like and the ambience is quite nice. I love their huge selections of cocktails and the people wait on me hand and foot. However, try to avoid the valet parking because the people who do it are idiots.
An ok place, decent food and a good bar area, but ultimately doesn't escape the typical Bay area look

not bad, nice space
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/24/06
the place has prices that could only fly in Menlo (or the city) - e.g. $9.50 for cocktails.
that being said, i had a very good glass of wine and a nice appetizer (a steamed fresh artichoke with good aioli) at the bar. the space is open an airy and the oak beams yet modern-style fixtures give it good ambiance. crowd is on the older side.
