The food was amazing, the prices were very reasonable and the service was exceptional! Hanagasa has just become my #1 choice for authentic Japanese food.

I've been there several times in the past year and never had a bad experience. The sushi is top rate especially considering the price. The food and the atmosphere is very authentic Japanese; (i've been to Japan a few times, so i would know). It makes me feel like i am actually in Japan the moment i step into that place. Can't really say that about any other sushi restaurant i've been to in the Carmel/Monterey area.

For the price, food is pretty good. The small, no-frill shop might disappoint you if you are looking for a "Carmel" experience. Agreeing with others, the service is terrible, the young Japanese waitress is overworked and unhappy. Cute and cool, though.

No greeting at all (They glanced us with unfriendly face)! Since we couldn't expect any service, we left. Around 7 p.m., not too late, I believe.
