Tonight was my first visit to Akai Hana. I picked this place based off the ratings of others who have posted here. I had the Dragon Roll and one other roll - I can't recall the name. Very good food. It seemed as if everyone know the sushi chef who handled my order. Everyone either walking in or out greeted the man by saying "Hello ...

  • The Best! Mmmmmm
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 05/10/06
This is absolutely the best Sushi in the San Diego area. We're talking fresh! We're talking good! We're talking the closest thing to actually being in Japan, where bad Sushi bars do not survive.

  • Turned away from the Sushi Bar
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 04/06/06
Great Albacor. But why did they reseat me from the sushi bar to the resturant once I wanted some Soba? No waitress service at the bar? This would be a first in my 15 years of eating sushi in California. A strange relationship between the resturant and the sushi bar, but good food, and I was served well once I moved to a table.

  • Good food, bad service

I enjoy the selection of fresh seafood at the sushi counter. They carry a wide range of fish and shellfish, even sometimes selling hard-to-find delicacies. The sushi chefs are knowledgeable and friendly. My problem lies with the other wait staff. They are often slow and sometimes forget orders. The host staff up front are consistently some of the ...

  • Best Sushi I have ever tasted
    By Joe, 08/19/05
Wow. My mother introduced me to this relatively obscure Japanese restaurant and with some degree of luck, it was the first sushi I had ever tasted in my life. I only say "some degree of luck" not because their food is not absolutely delectable (because it is!) but because Japanese food is ruined for me for I cannot eat another California ...

  • Best Sushi in Southern California

If you like sushi, come here and you will love it. The fish is so fresh, it practically melts in your mouth. They, of course, serve more than just sushi but I haven't tried it since I wouldn't give up a chance for the excellent sushi. It's a bit pricey but defintiely worth it. Make sure you get a reservation or be prepared to wait.
