Not a bad place...the food is okay and the atmosphere relaxed. I went there today with my children to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I thought it a bit presumptuous that the waitress added an 18% tip when the food took so long to arrive and she wasn't very attentive. We enjoyed each other and that is the most important part! I give the place a 8 on a scale of 10.

While it's not the best Deli I've ever eaten at (The Carnegie Deli in Vegas/New York, and Jerry's Famous Deli in Beverly Hills come to mind), DZ Akins is the best I've found in San Diego. I wish they'd put just a little more meat on their sandwiches (I love 'em piled high) and that they put chunks of chicken in their Chicken Soup, but all-in-all, it's a very good deli!

If you've seen their ads on TV and everything looks great and large well that's not just of advertising!!
Their Food is WONDERFUL! Like from a Deli in NY or Chicago! Not only delicious but just as large and attractive as in their ads!! Even the pickles are ...

By Far one one of the best breakfast places in San Diego. Never disappointed with the food. Service is fast, busy, so don't expect lots of attention, but the service is good when the waiter/waitress is there.

Wait for a party of 3 for Sunday brunch is about 20 minutes, good luck with a larger party. Come hungry, leave stuffed + left ...

I ordered the meatloaf and was extremely disappointed. I loved my carrot cake and coconut macaroons from the bakery. Our waitress wasn't overly nice, but she wasn't rude either...she just WAS. We will go back but will definately order a sandwich next time.

Good menu but the food is not reliable.
We received inedible food on a few occasions.
Why do we go back? good question.... Many friends like to eat deli food dispite the quality or cleanliness...Yuck!
Also, the waitstaff is sometimes downright rude and sometimes so sweet and friendly.
    Never a predictable experience.
Just thought that you'd like to know MY opinion.

Wonder why this deli is not figuring at the top of the list. Pastrami is as close as you can get to Katz's on this side of the coast! Gotta try the Matzo!

I love the desserts at this place! They have a fabulous selection and generous portions. I like to go there for the early bird dinner specials.
