I went to Ruth's Chris, in San Diego a few month's back. I finally have had time to writ a mini-review. It was awful, awful, awful! I had been to the one in Vegas, this one does not compare. If you take into account the high prices they charge, the service was lousy, the wait was lousy (w/reservation) and the food cold, and the salad soogy. Sorry a huge THUMBS DOWN, best to go get some FISH and Chips at any local joint!

To start off, our server was friendly, but not very concerned about waiting on us in a timely matter. We all ordered filet mignon, and everyone had a hard time cutting through them, not like a typical filet. The texture was stringy and the meat was dry. The asparagus was cold and the mashed potatoes were lacking in flavor. The desserts were ...

This overpriced steak house apparently uses artificially tenderized beef that gives it its own flavor. The side dishes are mostly tastless and the deserts uninspiring. Get the bread pudding if you can afford it. The wines are limited and overpriced. Service is mediocre. The ambiance is a high noise environment that makes it difficult to converse.
Save some money and try the Black Angus

Steak Splatter

We had a night out planned without the kids and were trying to decide on a decent restaurant for dinner before heading out to an Eric Clapton concert. Didn’t want to go too over the top, because, I didn’t feel like dressing up for the concert, and didn’t want to invest 4 hours on a meal before heading to a 7:30 concert.

So-so...

Good view, food is quite good - (except the one instance that one of the persons in my party got very sick from the steak.)
The restaurant is very noisy and feels a like a pick-up joint.
I take my wife here for Valentines Day, Anniversaries, and just about every other chance I can afford. The large filet is a bit pricey, but the taste is out of this world. I highly recommend a bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay with the meal. My wife and I love the experience we share together every time we come. We are lifers!

I didn't like this place!

I wasn't impressed with this restaurant. I've had better food than what R. Chris serves; I think it's a lot of hype.
Ok...so you're not supposed to eat red meat anymore...but you know how it is when you get that urge for a great steak...well go to Ruth's Chris and have the best steak you've ever eaten. They cook their meet in these really hot ovens. Between the great cut and the preparation, you are going to have a piece of meat like you have never ...
