I am originally from Artesia and have always loved La Fonda. My husband and I came into town for our class reunion in July 2009 and met up with friends and family for dinner. All went well until one of my friends realized that her burrito had french fries in it instead of chopped up potatoes. When we asked the waitress if we could speak to a ...

Everything was wonderful except for the spicy ketchup "salsa" they serve with their chips.

I have eaten there quiet often, and have never had a problem with the service or the food. It has a high quality, the servers are always kind and they are more than willing to assist your every whim. I'm sorry if u don't think that the food there is "mexican enough" for you, but it tastes great, and comes out hot and ready. If you ...

Husband & I visited La Fonda in Artesia, NM on Sunday, 2/10/08 and were very disappointed. Used to be a very favorite eating place - with excellent Mexican food. Seems like their chips and salsa are still good but the food is nothing to brag about. Chile Rellanos had no cheese in them - the buffet is not good at all - would not recommend it - ...

Sometimes good sometimes not so much...

La Fonda is a landmark in these parts and is good if you're not an expert in Mexican food. I like the chips and salsa but sometimes the food leaves something to be desired- Last time we ate there I had a taco salad- It was a tortilla shell (good) filled with salad (carrot chunks and all- not so good) smothered in chili (like chili dog chili- gag) and topped with fritos. Not exactly what I would call Mexican! Yuck!
We take a Youth group from our church in Irving, TX to the Sacramento Methodist Assembly every year for a "Mision Trip". We ALWAYS stop at Lafonda, as it is a favorite of the kids (repeat missionaries). The service is good, and the value/food ratio is very good. Highly reccommended by Nothgate UMC youth and sponsors. Well, we went again ...
La Fonda food is the best mexican food in Artesia. It is made fresh everyday. My mother makes the hot sauce for the chips and my husband makes the plates. They work hard to get you the best service. My sister-in-law is a waitress. The dishes are authentic. ITS THE BEST OF ALL THE REST!
