I was in on the first Tookie's Restaurant in Texas City! It was so awesome that when I heard of the one in Seabrook, I jumped for joy. I am very, very, very sad that they got caught up in hurricane Ike's rath. Best burger I ever ate!

Confirmed. Sadly Tookies will NOT be re-opening. The story I got was they kind of jumped the gun and gutted the place prior to having an insurance adjuster come and look at it and the city of Seabrook has some law that if the place has more than 50% damage they can't get a permit. Although the burgers are good, this may be the most unclean dining area I've ever seen! I would hate to see the kitchen.
