I lived in Nunoa and went to school at La Catolica (Feb-July 07). I loved this city, but I'm not going to sugar coat it. Santiago is a relatively big city- it really isn't as safe as people portray it. Even if you try to be subtle (no jewelry, ipod, etc), its possible that you get robbed. It never happened to me personally, but it did to ...
Chile offers so much from the North to the South. Great for adventure sports, for someone looking for culture, nightlife, good food. The people are nice helpful, very influenced by the europeans in architecture and food. Depending where you live it is expensive to get their and a long flight, nere the less I will return, and there are not to many places I say that about since I like to see new sights and countries.

Way far away and not safe
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/06/08
What I disliked most was, for the first time in 50(!) years of visiting and living in South America; a guy tried to rob me on a busy avenue a block from my hotel and in front of the University of Chile at 11 PM on a warm night. Otherwise it is still a worn out looking backwater with little to see that you can't enjoy in another country. ...
Santiago world-class undersold business city with outdoor sports! American friendly ultramodern city and one of the safest capitals in The Americas. With many styles, may look European or American, Manhattan style, classy, modern or humble depending where are you walking. If you like eclectic, then read on:
I liked the city tour. It takes you to Cerro Santa Lucia where you can get a great view of the city if you can hike the 169 steps up to the Torre Mirador. It also takes you to the Plaza de Las Armas where you go into the beautiful cathedral. It is very impressive. I love all the statues inside and the small altar made of silver. I loved eating ...
I visited Santiago for 6 days and I loved the food, wine and dessert! For my final day in Santiago, I went to the famous restaurants and places in Chile. The plan was to have lunch at Como Agua Para Chocolate (Water for chocolate restaurant) and dinner at Astrid y Gaston (Astrid and Gaston restaurant). Then finish it up at Kmasu night club. Kmasu ...

Chile was the most amazing place I ever been to in the world, from patagonia to the dryness of its dessert. Its fun lots of sports lots of nightlife, etc I will visit again this year.
Santiago is a very modern and safe city. I loved its architecture! It also has a nice and clean subway, and the people are extremely friendly there. I really enjoyed my trip, so I would like to go back to stay a little longer. The only problem is that it is kind of expensive. Then, I'd better start saving money...

Mi corazon vive en Santiago.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/17/06
I had the absolute pleasure of being both a tourist and resident of Santiago for one fascinating year of my life.
While I was there, we were living in Santiago and the entire city never ceased to amaze me.
Santiago is one of the safest cities I've traveled to, and one of the friendliest. While I was there, people were always anxious to ...

Very modern city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/09/06
Santiago is a very modern city. Chilean people are very friendly people. The city is clean and organised. I loved the time I spent in Renaca, Vina del Mar. One big problem is that the city is very polluted, but overall a very nice city.
