Actually, I don't find Sydney to be a romantic place. It's not very unique... Most of the Place of Interest are man-made, thus, making it available in other parts of the world. Rather, I'd recommend Melbourne than Sydney.

Start off from Rock on historic building and nice sea food. Got on ferry from Circular Quay to Manly, a value ride, much cheaper than Harbour cruise. Many Sailing boats in harbour together with the great view of Opera House and Harbour Bridge, this is really great. Remember to sit out on the deck area. Many surfers and beach volley ball on main beach of Manly.

Shops close rather early except on Thur nigh.

Because people are outgoing and friendly unlike some americans. Easy going and beautiful harbour, the opera house is amazaing and incredible and soooo much to do in so little time, beautiful looking people and diverse in culture sad to see riots there but! However, it did not affect our holiday at all...

Sydney is by far my favorite city in the world. Yes, I realize I still have a ways to go as I hear Shanghai, Buenos Aires, Dubai, and some other cities are amazing but to this point, nothing compares!

The great landmarks of Sydney: the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, are magnificent. Taking a cruise on the ferry is breathtaking. A must-do for visitors to Sydney. Take a morning cruise for great views of the city and an evening cruise to marvel at the night skyline.
