I spent a weekend in Austin with the family. It was nice to learn about the capital but that was about it. Austin is very pretentious. People seem to view themselves as very progressive but it really comes off as self-important.

We had been regular customers of Malaga in Austin in their old location.
On a special day, we chose to go back and celebrate. Their new location on 2nd was a disappointment. Although the owner/chef made his rounds to various tables, I found him to be crude and disinterested in what we had to say. Why ask? The food and service was at best marginal. Won't be back any time soon.

My Husband & I were there in Aug. 20008. Close to downtown but in a quaint older quite neighborhood.They have some good restaurants & histroic homes in the neighborhood. The house is beautiful & the breakfast was great. The owners were very friendly & helpful about local attractions & directions. It felt like we were staying with friends.
