We visited Austin because it is suppost to be very entertaining if you love music and/or art. We didn't experience that at all. What a waste of time. This town thinks too much of its self. Too expensive shops. Rubbish in the second hand stores. Call it antique or vintage and you can ask more money? They didn't fool us. And most people we ...
I spent a weekend in Austin with the family. It was nice to learn about the capital but that was about it. Austin is very pretentious. People seem to view themselves as very progressive but it really comes off as self-important.
There are coffee shops on EVERY corner as well as "organic" shops galore. Other than riding bikes, ...

Won't go back to Malaga
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/09
We had been regular customers of Malaga in Austin in their old location. On a special day, we chose to go back and celebrate. Their new location on 2nd was a disappointment. Although the owner/chef made his rounds to various tables, I found him to be crude and disinterested in what we had to say. Why ask? The food and service was at best marginal. Won't be back any time soon.
I went over there to go see a friend of mine who i'm real close to and thought i take a visit since it's been a long time since i seen her. Although my flight experience going to Austin was real torture, it's a long story so i'll leave it at that. Anyway the first thing that happened as soon as i was going to exit, this ramdom guy ...
All the good stuff you've heard or read about Austin is true. I live here because Austin chose me and I finally answered it's call. I wish I had been born and raised here. If it were closer to the Rockies and the beach and if the summers weren't so hot, then it would be a total paradise. Other than that it comes very close to ...
The best thing to see in Austin is the capital and the bats. The people are an ecclectic bunch because a lot of them come from all over the U.S. to attend UT, so Austin really isn't a good example of southern hospitality. However, they are a friendly bunch of people. Not one person was rude to me in Austin. But they do drive CRAZY in ...
Austin is a frame of mind as much as it is a city. You either get it or you don't, I can't explain it any other way I have lived here for 2 1/2 years now and I love it. The atmosphere is great, it has both a young and old feel, the hill country is beautiful, lots of live music everyday of the week, the bars here are awesome you really ...
My Husband & I were there in Aug. 20008. Close to downtown but in a quaint older quite neighborhood. They have some good restaurants & histroic homes in the neighborhood. The house is beautiful & the breakfast was great. The owners were very friendly & helpful about local attractions & directions. It felt like we were staying with friends.
I have lived in Houston for almost 7 years and have been to Austin probably 6 times. I've lived in NJ, and NYC is still the best city, but only if you have money.
Austin is the perfect city for kids after highschool everyone you see is around your age (near the Castillian and places downtown)
