Advice from a native
By Summerville Local, 11/29/08
Plan your trip carefully, there is so much to do and you want to do it all. Take a day to just walk the streets downtown, enjoy the cemetaries and read the epitaths on the headstones. There is so much history in such a small area. If you love history this is your town. If in doubt ask a local, we love to talk about our city and we know the best ...

Best little town in South Carolina!
By Christie E, 09/21/08
This place was so unique and steeped in history and architecture! Lots of animal lovers walking their dogs and friendly locals that were very willing to give directions and tell you stories as well. My only regret is that I didn't reserve 3 days or more for my tour instead of just 2.

I am from Asheville, NC, and I go to Charleston almost every weekend in the summer. I have been all over the U.S. and Charleston is by far my favorite city. They have awesoem beaches (Folly Beach and Isle of Palms), great food, and lots of family activities. Be sure you pick up a travel guide when you get there. There are several attrations ...

Take a closer look!

I love Charleston, I moved from Ohio about 13 years ago. I am happy to live in a city where the "F" word is not a part of everyday conversation. I am thrilled to be part of the city with the richest history in America. This is where America started. I guess the rest of you missed all that. Next time you are in town go to 80 Alexander St. ...

We are returning in December
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/30/08
We fell in love with Charleston three years ago when we happened to stay over on our way to Orlando. In all the times we have been (usually 2 or 3 times a year) we have never had or expierienced anything like some of the reviews speak about. The people are always pleasent and show true "Southern Hospitality" with the exception of a few of ...
We've been visiting Charleston, SC since 2003 and keep coming back. It has such a varied type of attractions ranging from food, natural beauty, and civil war sites. The Sullivan's Island beach has a nice view towards Charleston, The Angel Oak is such a massive tree that you have to see it to believe it, the USS Yorktown is an amazing ...

Historic Charleston
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/12/08
This is in reference to the review by judynkennyhardin..first of all, that is not raw sewage that you smell, it is Pluff Mud. When you smell it, you know you are in downtown Charleston. If you were anywhere near the Water Park with the Fountain, you would see the pluff mud around the pier area. The streets are crowded and dirty, because we have so ...

Not what I expected
By judynkennyhardin, 05/30/08
Streets were crowded and dirty, people approached us in the market for money. Food was way over priced for the quality of food served and the smell of raw sewage on market street was sickening. The image I had of Charleston was far different from the actual city we saw. Far the most part the people we met were friendly and the hotel was the only ...

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/08/08
I grew up in Charleston SC and I can tell you that its a pretty nice place if you know what you want to do and where to go. It can also get old very fast.
If you are into civil war stuff you will love it here, but even if thats the case, once you have seen everything thats all there is to it.
Seafood is great here, better than in Florida!! ...
