Newport is great if you are ready to spend a lot of cash. This place is expensive. This isnt a beach town. This is a port town and a party town. The town is designed around the port and is great for wealthy sailers and drinkers. Parking is horrendous. The beaches are below average- I recommend driving further and paying more for parking at 2nd and ...

I love Newport
By David Rountree, 05/09/08
I am a romanticist. I love the splendor of the mansions, and the majesty of the tall ships. The Bed and Breakfasts, the food. I spent my honeymoon here in 2003, and I have wanted to return ever since. I would love to take my soon to be 4 year old son there to show him how ships use to look.

Walk the Cliffs

I first visited Newport in the late 90's and then again in 2002 or 2003. Each time it was sunny and beautiful. This most recent visit was over the 2006 Labor Day weekend so of course I had to book a B&B well ahead. Had I known that it would rain and storm I might have canceled, but Newport costs enough without forfeiting one's ...

costly and for WHAT?

A graveyard on each side of the road greeted us on the way into Newport. It is all an illusion. The hotels, the shops, and even the beaches are average. Yet the prices are outrageous. We planned a 2 day trip and ended up going home after half of a day. We visited 2 beaches, had dinner, and checked out an inn, a couple of hotels ,and the visitor ...

Newport is great! Friendly, warm atmosphere. Highly recommend The Hydrangea House Inn located on Bellevue Ave. Right in the middle of everything.
Great hosts, great food.

would go again
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 06/13/06
Thre restaurant is called H20. This is a new restaurant right on the water in downtown Newport. Great decor, food and view. Contemporary upscale menu with a hint of asian flair. Delicious starting with the steaming hot sesame rolls and spread right thru the dessert course and we ordered several different things off menu. Would go again if I was in Newport and recommend you try it
