Likes: multiple social and cultural activities and events (before 9 PM); reasonable real estate costs; relatively low crime rates Dislikes: overwhelming Stepford-wife-meets-white-collar-zombie population; infrastructure spawl (large number of planned housing developments and shopping plazas); little public transportation

The crime rate is going up and so are the prices (of everything) Someone recently killed someone while driving and got a 5 year suspended sentence.

Maybe relocating to Raleigh NC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/04/09
I enjoyed reading all the reviews and noticed that it was negative for the older group and more positive for the younger. Overall I learned its a medium size city. We have lived in both California, where I grew up, and Houston when I got married. I LOVE Calif with its perfect 76 degrees year round and the mountains and the beautiful beaches. ...

The real deal about Raleigh.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/08
I have lived here for a year and a half now and almost completely agree with the person who wrote the "Are you kidding me?" post. This place is the "Applebees" of American cities. Everything from the cookie cutter cheaply built houses to the chain restaurants that seem to be on every single street. The traffic is horrible and ...

Do you want to waste a few days?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/22/08
There is nothing to really do. There isnt much in the Piedmont region of NC period. Other than crabtree mall, visiting Raleigh would be a good waste of gas money.

Get Me Out of Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/24/08
I moved to Raleigh as teenager in the late 1960's when it was a much smaller community. After many years of becoming a "Southerner" from upstate NY, I have become more & more discontent. I understand that every city needs growth to survive, but they have ruined Raleigh! I raised my childrens here and even they want to get out of ...

Overall amazing place to live
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/01/07
Raleigh is a wonderful city to grow up in, visit or relocate to. The standard of living is better than most places in America. The post secondary education is world famous, including the medical programs and hospitals of Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill, and the engineering, veterinary, and teaching programs of N.C. State University. The median ...
I flew into Raleigh NC because it was the closest airport. My daughter returned from Iraq and I flew down to see her come home. I did have to change my flight plans and was quoted an outrageous price. I tried to explain I wanted to extend my stay and fly home 2 days later but got no where. I finally called American Airlines, who my flight was ...
I loooovvee living the Raleigh area- I've been here for over 10 of my 20 years, and really I don't have any complaints! Here are just a few of my favorite things to see and do around here:
If you want high-end dining, Caffe' Luna, Lucky 32, and Second Empire are pretty great hot tickets around here. Of course, you can't visit ...

Great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/07
I was a little surprised by a few of the negative reviews, about how vicious they sounded. Actually I expected a constructive negative view of Raleigh, and didn't find anything! Before moving to NC, I lived in New York City and Boston, and loved both cities, and have travelled through 38 states in the U.S. so I've been to some great ...
