i dont understand what people are talking about when they a.) say that there is nothing to do here. there are tons of clubs, bars, some of the best restaurants in the world and seemingly everyday they are building more. people who say that this city has no culture or funk or whatever have clearly never been to places like uptown, noda, southend, ...

I dare anyone to dispute this opinion. I haved lived in Charlotte for 2 years.

The Positives:

Charlotte has a beautiful skyline. Downtown is gorgeous. Job market is ok.

The Negatives:

There is nothing to do in Charlotte. Don't believe me? Google it. You will see every link lists: Carowinds, The Discovery Center, Nascar, Museums, ...

Moved here recently. Very nice clean and modern medium-sized city. Moved here from Atlanta ans it's is not an mini-Atlanta (Thank God!!!!). It's kinda like what Atlanta used to be- on the positve side. It is a city on the rise that I think will be one of the premiere cities in the South very soon. Not a touristy place though, if that's what youre expecting you'll be diaspointed in that regard.

as a travel destination i would say go elsewhere. charlotte is more of a suburban utopia than an urban travel destination. if you want to move here i would say it is a great place if you have or want kids. if you are single then it's not so great. it's mainly chain restaurants, stores, and a little superficial. you won't hate it but i doubt you will love it. see for yourself. it's worth the trip.

Are you guys serious when you say Charlotte rivals Atlanta. Charlotte couldn't rival Atlanta in no way. Atlanta is much more fast paced, much busier and the Atlanta area has almost 4times as many people based on 2006 estimates 1.5mil to 5.4mil, are u guys serious? Sure the city of Charlotte is growing faster but thats because of the annexations ...

Great weather all year round (love mild summers), lots of green, numerous business opportunities, low cost of living, a steadily rising social and nightlife scene, some fine dining and excellent scenery... Charlotte is a great place to visit, and probably an even better place to live.

I lived in Charlotte for two years, and recently moved back north (Southerners, let out a cheer!)

Here is my honest assessment:

THE GOOD
1) Talk of Charlotte having a crime problem is over-rated. Charlotte has bad neighborhoods, where most of the crime takes place. Also, people walking alone at night Uptown may get mugged. Same as ...
