Our room at Harrah's in the East Tower was about the same as a room in a cheap hotel. It had a small wardrobe instead of a closet and a solid window. It has not been updated since it's conception. It wasn't worth the money we forked out for it that is for sure. I had also reinforced that it was our first visit to Reno and it was my ...

Reno a great vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/06
Reno is a great place for a vacation There's gambling, good buffets and great live music it's also not too far from lake Tahoe The riverwalk there is also a must see.The Truckee river runs right by the riverwalk.I had a great vacation in Reno and I plan tovisit again real soon
Reno is run down and seedy. I was afraid to leave my hotel room. The class of people drawn to Reno is very low. South Lake has the gambling and hotels with nicer views, better restaurants and nicer people. You get all the fun of the mountains without the dirty environment. Unless a big clean-up occurs in the city, this was our last visit.

Vegas-wannabe

The great pretender to the glitzier city of Las Vegas. Skip this place and head south to Vegas instead. However, its close proximity to Lake Tahoe makes this a possible day-trip destination while vacationing in the Sierra Nevada.

Avoid this place like the plague! My entire experience was miserable. I wil often go out of my way to support a local business. In this case, I will do my best to warn others from coming near this miserable establishment.

Reno/Sparks is coming out of its' run down image and has become a pretty well rounded entertainment meca.
I've never been a fan of downtown Reno, but the Atlantis and the Peppermill are far enough south to avoid most of the crowd. Both are top notch operations.
Sparks has done a good job with the redevelopment of downtown with the ...
Much better, cleaner, cheaper and friendlier than Atlantic city. Not as crowded as the Las Vegas strip, prettier than Tunica Mississippi and unravished by a hurricane like Biloxi.
Reno sits in picturesque form against the snow caps of the Sierras. Come to think of it there's a very nice casino by the same name but if you play roulette count ...
