Stay away from Omaha. It likes to think it's bigger and better than it really is. There is little to do here and it just isn't the most exciting place you can go to. If you are going on vacation somewhere, it's not a bad place to stop for 1-2 days, but after that you'll start getting bored. If you stop, see the zoo, eat at the Old Market, and get on your way out. Moved out of here as soon as I could and don't miss it at all.

Omaha isn't the greatest city I've ever been to, but it was fine for a week when I went to a friends wedding. There are a decent amount of things to do. The two biggest things are the zoo and the Old Market. The zoo is big and pretty nice. Being from San Diego, I was quite impressed. The Old Market reminded me of the Gaslamp District back ...

No Thanks

No good body of water (Missouri River doesn't count), no mountains, no nature, no skyline (two semi-big buildings), no diversity, no originality, bad weather, small entertainment area, little culture, people in denial, highlights of the week are eating at a chain restaurant and drinking at a strip mall bar...
Welcome to Omaha. Now you see why I got out as fast as I could.

Not worth a special trip

I came out to Omaha for a business trip. I wasn't overly impressed. The downtown Old Market area wasn't bad, but it was very small. The weather was mind-numbingly cold. The city didn't feel very vibrant or energetic. I guess it would be a good place to live if you want to have a slow, easy life.

So boring and consistent

I am from Omaha, lived in Texas for four years and moved back to Omaha. I am leaving Omaha for good in about two months. If you like consistency, you will like Omaha. It is the most consistent place I have ever been to. Every neighborhood looks alike. Strip mall after strip mall after strip mall. No nature. No architecture. Chain restaurants and ...

What about the rest of us?!?
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 10/28/06
What about all of the thousands of people who do not have children, are still young enough to enjoy lifes twists and turns without worrying about retirement and who don't want to live in a 'cookie-cutter house', just like the rest of Omaha?
I've lived in a lot of places and I can honestly say, Omaha, NE is one of the most ...

Omaha is an excellent city! Its not too big, but it has everything you need or want. Friendly people, easy travel, lots of great food, and interesting culture. I would recommend everyone to stop in to Omaha at least once. Its truly a hidden treasure!
I moved to Omaha from a rural Nebraska town about 4 years ago. Omaha and I have had one heck of a love-hate relationship these past few years.
For starters, this city definitely has its perks. The midtown area, despite being a bit shabby, is a lovely place to live. I've always felt safe, and apartment rental in this part of town is ...
