I grew up in the Overland Park area and have lived in Atlanta and Washington, DC since then. KC is truly a midwestern place. The people are friendly, someone is always willing to help you out, the downtown area has gotten an amazing facelift, and the suburbs on the Kansas side are consistently cited as the best places to raise a family and safest ...
Kansas City is generally a nice town, but VERY spread out, and not a whole lot different than Omaha, Oklahoma City, Cincinnati and Little Rock. The downtown area has seen some redevelopment in recent years, where Cordish Co. has come in and razed several blocks to rebuild new, retro-styled buildings for what are mostly national chain bars & ...
Okay, when the people working behind the counters refer to the town as 'Killa City', that tells me something. In my 16 days staying in a downtown hotel in Kansas City, there was maybe one day where someone wasn't murdered. I enjoyed the Power & Light District, although it seems quite similar to other areas I have visited ...

From KC to H-Town back to KC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/20/08
KC is my hometown and ain't no place like home no matter where you are. I am in Houston, H-Town, and unless you just looking for clubs every night, even that gets old, its not big of a difference. Kansas City is definitely a up and coming city, and sometimes doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I hear ppl say they wanna get out of kc ...
I grew up in Kansas City and the surrounding suburbs and have never lost my love for it. I offers the best music, food, and accommodations in the safest and most beautiful environment. I think its only competitors would be Chicago and Seattle.

Fantastic Visit - Much Better City than St. Louis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/07
Stopped for one night in KC - specifically, Shawnee, KS, which is a nice, quiet suburb - to see Rush at Bonner Springs. Took the tour of the American Jazz Museum, Boulevard Brewing Company and - of course - had some Gates BBQ in Independence ("HI MAY I HELP YOU!" Ha ha), which is the best food on the planet. Also, if you enjoy good ...
My wife and I went to SIENA BISTRO in KCMO. I asked for a Belvedere or Grey Goose martini and they did not have either liquor. Later a roach flew onto our table. The entres were good. The dessert, a lemon bar with cheeries was awful. The bar was burnt. Many people have written this is thier favorite restaurant. Judge for yourself but we will not be back.

Just Another Midwest Town...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/06
I have visited Kansas City many times and now live here. It is a decent place for a weekend trip, staying around the Country Club Plaza was nice as there are several blocks of mostly national chain stores (several are rather upscale) set in a Cordoban (Spanish) motif, with some very nice fountains and artwork scattered around the area. Visiting? ...
Kansas City is one of those cities that has hidden treasures all over the metro. If you are planning a visit it would be best to wait until next fall if you can because by then the 9 block entertainment district downtown will be open. It will boast over 50 unique shops, restaurants, and bars. I would also recommend walking around and taking in the ...
