I was in Jackson a few days in the spring, and really enjoyed it. For starters, Jackson was recently voted the best value/lowest cost of living of any major US city. This is a great place to live, as it has great restaurants, shops, quality of life, and an airport, interstate. Plus, it is less than 3 hours from New Orleans, Memphis, and Oxford. The ...

Crossroads Film Festival
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/11/07
I was quite impressed with the caliber of this festival, and the thriving arts community I discovered in this little Southern city. If you’re passing through Jackson in late March, check out this festival.
This is the place where i was born and raised... I love Jackson, I love the black history that this city have... Everyone should visit Jackson, at least once in their lives...
I started to blindly tour the United States. I just wanted to see the major things about a city/state. i.e. Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Grand Canyon/Tombstone in Arizona. Things a state/city is known for. Well, I don't really know what Mississippi is known for other than the Missippi River, which I toured in Louisiana. I guess I was expecting ...
I love Jackson, MS... not saying that just because I'm from Mississippi (IBM..BABY!!) Jackson is a town for black's can go and hang out... and if you ever been to a Alcorn State vs Jackson State game, trust me you would love it...

I-20, 55 Travelers take the afternoon in Jackson!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/05/06
- I enjoy going to Jackson because things that are very affordable as cities go. Jackson is INCREDIBLY safe - so long as you are not in on the west side of the city -- that means: Do not lodge on or too near Ellis Avenue. The city has vibrant neighborhoods and then...there's downtown. Downtown Jackson has some lovely gracious old homes, ...
The Jackson Hilton is THE BEST place to stay in Jackson, MS. Central to most of the restaurants and area shopping, rooms and service at the Jackson Hilton is in a word, superb. My suite was a two room, two bathroom, apartment sized affair with a great view and Queen Anne style furniture. Very nice. Check out the bar and live entertainment for Happy Hour.
Cheers,
Mike D.

College Bound
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/05
My son chose to attend Belhaven College in Jackson Mississippi. We piled all the belongings he thought he would need for college in the car and off we went. It is about a 12 hour trip from the Tampa Bay area. We did not know what to expect but we never thought the people and the area would be so 'nice'. There were a few things he ...

the management / employees there were wonderful even with hurricane Katrina and the loss of power to the hotel. Thanks so much. Your attention to the patrons was superb and will not be forgotten.

Stagnant, but with highlights
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/05
Jackson has its highlights: fantastic crawfish for example, history, rodeos and (sometimes) southern charm. But it's rough around the edges and doesn't leave a lot for outsiders to enjoy. If you do want to visit, figure out when the rodeos are, because they're great fun. Likewise, the petrified forest not far from the city is a good ...
