I love Detroit. I've lived near Ann Arbor for decades and I get to Detroit as often as possible now. That wasn't true in the '70's and '80's when Detroit was bottoming out. Since they, the city has been in the midst of a revival that is very exciting to watch. The downtown area has gone through a rebirth with the Riverfront, ...

Hockeytown? More like Homicide Town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/29/09
Ugh! We are continuing are NHL tour and we thought that Detroit, one of the stalwart cities with its Red Wings, would be impressive. What a horrid, broken-down mess. Nasty, rude people and a very scary and depressing environment. Even at the hockey game (Chicago at Detroit, 12/30/08), the locals were rude and aloof to us (and they didn't ...

Okay. First things first, like in any town, city, or capitol; If you dont mess with people, they wont mess with you. Thats the best way i can describe the false rumor about " high chances of being shot". Detroit is awesome. I live outside of it and when my boyfriend and I want to go to a really nice dinner, we`ll hed downtown! Great ...
I've lived in Michigan my entire live. I have always lived near Detroit, not actually in the city. I remember Detroit being like any other large city, and now I've seen it decline. One writer on this post attacked the way we talk, the way we live, the seafood served in restaurants, etc. I've traveled the world, and anyone I've ...

Detroit is on life support
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/08
I wanted to sob uncontrollably driving through Detroit. Half standing homes, burned out buildings, and a myriad of liquor, checks cashed, and lotto stores are all that is left. Mother nature is reclaiming vast stretches of this once proud city. Goodbye
The best time to come to Detroit is spring/summer. It's May, the Tigers are starting their season, the Red Wings and Pistons are beginning their play-off runs. Go Detroit!
As the weather starts to warm up, the music of Detroit moves outside. For country music lovers, check out the Hoedown. Hundreds of thousands of fans listening to free ...

burn the place down

I used to live in the "exciting" city of Royal Oak. This is the metropolitan city of Detroit that all Michigan folks point to as the "hot spot". In reality is is less than 1 square mile (2 blocks to be exact) of bars, restaurants with terrible food and no redeeming cultural value whatsoever. And this is the gem of SE Michigan. ...

Infested With Bedbugs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/07
We stayed at the RenCen hotel. It was infested with bedbugs. We complained, they upgraded us to a much larger room with alot more bedbugs. And this is supposed to be the best hotel in the city.
Well, we decided to check out and drive to the suburbs (we almost got car-jacked). Then we got a room at a Holliday Inn Express with larger bedbugs ...

Let me start by saying that Downtown Detroit is no Chicago. However, it is moving along nicely. I have been to Downtown Detroit a couple of times and every time I go back there is something new to see, something that wasn't there years earlier. I've been to Downtown Detroit twice in the last six months. The first time was during the summer. ...
On a recent trip to Detroit I was car-jacked. The savage then beat me over the head with his gun and shot me in the foot. I fell out of the car travelling at 40mph and left to almost bleed to death by the side of the road.
