To the person who wrote that Nantucket was Pretentious, Faux Americana, Overpriced, I apologize if our little island was not up to your outrageous standards. I apologize that your precious eyes needed to bear the sight of men and women enjoying the summer months in light pink linen shorts. I apologize to you for having to spend your seemingly ...

Pretensious, Faux Americana, Overpriced.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/08
A place for those desperate to prove their wealth and prestige, done by wearing pink pants, and driving "rustic" gas-guzzlers these people wouldn't be caught dead in in Connecticut. Discusting level of pretension, botox and parading of "high society" cliches. Summer months have also become increasingly violent due to the mass influx of barely interviewed and disgruntled international workers.

Great Place.

Nantucket is my favorite vacation place. It is like no other, except for Santa Fe, in that it feels like you have left "America" behind.
I especially enjoy it after Labor Day, when the crowds leave. The water stays warm until October and the fishing is really good. Scallop season starts in October and you can get a license and collect ...

I loved the privacy compared to MV which can be a lot lore crowded. TMG took me here for two days of quite bliss. It was quite for about 5 minutes. Wink.

A truly interesting place
By MicheleC, 07/19/06
Full of history, Nantucket is a must-see for an Eastern Seaboard trip. The restaurants are like nothing you have experienced and serve fare that you will get no where else. The taverns often have entertainment and serve a blinding array of beers and ales. On our first trip, we found out that time moves differently on this whaling island. We ...

I lived on Nantucket for almost three years - 01/2000 - 10/2002, and I absolutely loved it. The friends I made, the peacefulness of winter, the beaches in summer, and boating to work, these things I will never forget. I find it diffulcult to stay in one place for long, but Nantucket will always have a place in my heart. Shout out to: Ryan, Gravy, Limey, Claire, Pete, Mikey, and Ray.

I was born and bred here. I find it the most beautiful place in the world. I now live in R.I. but I go home every chance I get, at least 3 or 4 times a year.

THE Rock
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/26/06
Nantucket is expensive. Everything on the island is beautiful and clean. Beaches even in the height of August are still empty. If you want to experince nantucket stay OUT of town in the summer untill 6:00pm. Then you can walk around without doging someone on the sidewalks or on the road. Don't RENT a moped...its a death trap. The roads are ...

So so so nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/31/06
I love Nantucket - it is so uniquely beautiful! Expensive, but well worth it. If you're looking for flash, you won't find it here. If you love the beach and being outdoors, it's like heaven.
I have been lucky (or unlucky) enough to have spent 3 months on Nantucket - I arrived in June by boat with my car - BTW it takes almost 2 1/2 hrs and cost I think $189 one way to get here. The summer is incredibly busy... People come from everywhere, and many bring their cars, and Nantucket is not designed for such a large volume of traffic. ...
