I can't pick even one thing that I DISLIKE about Cozumel. I completely love it here. My husband and I travel to Cozumel two times per year on average. It's so perfect and the atmosphere is incredible. The natives are laid back and friendly and they don't hound you like they do in Cancun.
We spend 2-4 weeks a year on the island. There is no need to venture to the mainland. Once the cruise ships leaves it is very peaceful and relaxing. There are alot of good places to eat for reasonable prices (Chi, Casa Denis are favorites). If you need a grocery store, the new Mega Mart is spectacular and reasonable (cheap compared to USA) but ...
We were in Cozumel and did find Capicua. They now have a live band playing rock and jazz music. Great food, drinks, music and atmosphere...i agree CAPICUA is a must. We also had a great experience at the Xcanha Temazcal (Sweat lodge).
I have been traveling to Cozumel for almost 15 years. While the Island has had its ups and downs (it was hit hard by Huricanne Wilma), it looks better than ever and remains a great destination.
As for hotels, you can't do better than El Presidente.
I have been here twice and the people are very friendly, and you have cell phone service here as well. There are so many things to do here, from tours, to shopping, local restaurants, and the beaches. I did a tour, shopping, and ate at local restaurant. Great experience.

Local snorkeling

Cozumel was a stop on our cruise itenerary and instead of paying the outrageous fees for the ship's snorkeling excusion, we booked with a local beforehand and had a BLAST. The group is called Manta Raya Divers and they lead both snorkeling and diving trips. Fernando, the head guy, spoke near perfect English and was easy to get in contact with ...
Very laid back island living. Locals are friendly. Food is amazing. Great bars and restaurants right on the beach on the east coast of the island. Great shopping. Snorkeling or scuba diving a must! Sundays there is a live band in the main square where the locals come to dance and party. Definitely reccommended. Can't wait to come back!

Loved it - Paradise

Stayed at the Park Royal all inclusive resort & had the time of our life. Rooms very clean, staff very friendly. We went in May '07 (off season) and felt like we had the resort to ourselves! Cabs so easy to get around! Get a car & go to Alberto's restaurant, up the island, not downtown. It's amazing food & you get eat in ...
