Ottawa has lots of historical attractions, lots of nice picture-taking sites, and lots of nice accomodations, when you find them. There are quite a bit of nice restaurants in Ottawa and there is a particularly nice market, ByWard Market. Ottawa is a place to consider visiting.

East Pearl of Ontario

To be honest, I enjoyed going around Ottawa. It's a small place compared to other Canadian cities like Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal. There're many magnificent buildings portraying the Canadian heritage. I especially enjoyed visiting Parliamentary Hill in the center of the city. The organization of tours and trips around Parliamentary ...

Business Trip Enjoyable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/20/06
Two business trips to Ottawa in the past year. As the Capital, it has many national treasures in the form of museums, public art, and government buildings (architecture). Interesting shopping opportunities. The canal adds to the beauty in the summer and recreational options once in freezes over in the winter.
Stay downtown so you can walk to the museums, parliament, and shopping. They are close together.
Very cold in the winter!

Pretty tame city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/03/06
Ottawa is an okay place to visit, but honestly there is really nothing special about the place. Walking around and seeing the Parliament buildings is a nice thing to do, but this city is pretty bland compared to most of the other big Canadian cities. If you ever visit, you HAVE to try some poutine. Poutine is a meal that is made of fries covered ...

Went to parliment hill...was nice to go to the top and see the whole city...reccomend to do that! Walked along the rideau canal...saw some war time historical site that was located ...

Good place for Museum enthusiasts
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/28/05
This is a very good place for the museum enthusiasts as it has a variety of museums. I visited the museum War and museum of civilization.
Museum of civilization is exceptionally good and i would recommend this to all tourists. The third floor of this museum is awesome (The sky will be simulated here).
Gatineau Park is located 10 minutes from downtown Ottawa, and is wilderness untouched. We saw a doe the other day,it didn't even run away until my 3 year old son started to chase her.
It is a nice place to visit in the winter! Great sleding. And everyone needs to check out the Rideau Canal....the longest skating rink in the world! And have to go to a maple farm like Sugar Bush! Get to make your own maple sucker, in fresh snow!

A magnificent city that is very family friendly and gives you a good look at my birth city.Rideau Canal is great for autumn walk and skating at winter.Try to find a hotel or suite near the older historic part of town so you can have a taste of canadian parlament.
