It`s a great fun-loving city. I just came from a business trip over there. The winter is cold, of course, but it is compensated by friendliness of the people. The culture is definetly unique. But it is not just French. It is cosmopolitan. There is so much diversity in the city that sometimes you wonder whether it is the same city. One advice: read ...

Enjoyable place, Go when its warm.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/10/05
I enjoyed the many historic buildings in Old Montreal especially the Notre Dame Basillica, which would be the biggest must see. It is the most beautiful church I've ever been in.
The shopping is everywhere and has something for everyone, if your like fashion go to the malls of Underground Montreal. If you like boutiques with a little edge ...

Nice City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/20/05
I have been to Montreal twice, it is a city with quite a bit of diversity. The residence are nice and helpful and the city has beautiful parks and cafes. It is a very cosmopolitan city with adequate public transportation. History abounds throughout the city and quaint row houses line the streets. Getting around Montreal by car can be difficult on ...

Montreal!!! Toronto, WHO!?
By Curtis R, 11/26/05
I was pleasantly surprised with Montreal! Despite what you may hear, most, if not ALL of Montrealers speak English! The French thing is not hard to navigate at all. I drove to Montreal from the United States, and when you first see the Montreal skyline (at night!) from rural Quebec (Quebec lacks suburbs) it looks like a city oasis... VERY ...

What an amazing city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/05
I was only in Montreal for about 48 hours, but made the most of my short time there. I stayed in Vieux Montreal, which is so completely charming and beautiful that it was hard to leave. The architecture, history, mix of people, street performers and artists, and general summertime air of joviality was fantastic. I ventured out to Mont Royal and had ...

One of the finest in North America
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/05
This is one of the finest cities in North America, and it's a tossup between Vancouver for nicest Canadian city, but it's certainly better than Toronto and the French culture is very rewarding. I've been here twice, initially to see Montreal Expos baseball games but found myself loving the city more than my favorite sport. If you've ...

Great city
By Jimmy, 06/28/05
There's always something to do here. The night life is great, the public transportation system is great, and the food is great. The city is also safe - you can walk around most places at nights without fear of getting mugged. I would recommend learning some French before you come here, though most people speak English and are usually pretty nice about it.

falling in love with a beautiful city by brian sullivan
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/05
I first came to montreal many years and have enjoyed it at least 3-4times a year since then. The day begins with a continental breakfast at the top of the Delta centre ville, sipping coffee and seeing the magnificant architecture of the city--perhaps early mass at St patricks church--a visit to the peel street pen store on union, shopping at the bay, walking to mcgill and dinner at moishe's on st lawrence
