Intended to stay a week in the Scottish Capital but was struggling for activities by day 2. The castle was nice but expensive, the view coming out of the main train station is stunning, 1st impressions 5* but when you get under the skin of the city there isn't a lot to do. If going spread your time between Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh, Scotland is wonderful Edinburgh is a let down.

  • Edinburgh is Tops
    By scottish4ever1, 11/24/07
Edinburgh is the best place for an American tourist to get the feel of Europe, a taste of Scotland and the sights that are worth every moment.

I love Edinburgh for its look and the way the streets make you feel as if you are in an exotic culture. In contrast to Glasgow, Edinburgh shows a uniqueness that Scottish life brings. Glasgow is metro ...

  • Interesting city

The Royal Mile & the castle are just a few sites worth seeing. Lots of good shopping & check for festivals that might be going on while you plan on being there.

    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 10/05/06
This is truely one of the most beautiful cities that I have ever visited in Europe. I love nice scenary and was surprised to find the centre of Edinburgh, especially the area near princes mall, having such wonderful views, unlike others which I have visited which gives a feeling of "you see one, you see all".

    I had also booked a whole ...

  • Breath taking views from the Edinburgh Castle.
    By jonesywonesy, 08/10/06
We loved the sight seeing tour bus and the ease with which you could get on and off to see all the famous sights.
The Castle is tremendous and has breath taking views. Don't forget your camera.
Shopping is a must as the Castle is surrounded by shops and restaurants.
Try the Whiskey as it is the official drink of Scotland. Try a tour of a ...

Edinburgh,Scotland is my favorite place in the world. It must be as I have been taking holidays there yearly since 1984. Our daughter married her British husband in Edinburgh --that's how much we love that wonderful small city. The people are very friendly and courteous . There's many wonderful historic sites to see. Among my ...

  • Celebrate New Year's Eve in Edinburgh, Scotland!
    By Maricar, 06/12/06
Edinburgh pulls out all the stops for its New Year's Eve celebrations! Also known as Hogmany, a huge chunk of the city is turned into an enormous block party. A majority of the peeps may be drunk, but they are friendly and happy, not like the louts you'll see in Las Vegas on this holiday. There's a huge beer tent next to carnival rides ...
