Canterbury is such a beautiful city. The Cathedral is gorgeous and the tour of the ruins of St. Augustine's Abbey is both interesting and informative. Having tea and biscuits in one of the tea rooms was a very relaxing experience.

My companion and I stayed at the Kipp's Independent Hostel which was very affordable, clean, friendly and near everything.

  • Back to the Middle Ages in Canterbury.
    By Pooterbug, 01/24/07
We absolutely loved our visit to Canterbury. What a lovely, old city with so many medieval buildings. Also, enclosing the city is the ancient Roman wall in which you can walk the distance of.
One of the most impressive things in Canterbury is certainly the Canterbury Cathedral. Pictures do not do it just for the sheer massive size of it. The ...

For more than 800 yrs christian faithful have come in droves to Canterbury cathedral to make a pilgrimage to Thomas a Becket shrine, dating from 1170.
Perhaps the best preserved story of

Canterbury Cathedral is one of the largest and best in England. The city of Canterbury is a majestic place with lots of nice pubs and lovely winding streets. It is very easy to get to from London by rail or coach.

  • England at its Quaintest
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/05
The County Hotel was a very quaint place, so it seemed very English in that sense. However, there was only a one-person elevator (definitely not a handicap accessible stay), and it was very easy to get lost in all the winding hallways. The rooms were very snug, although that somewhat added to the atmosphere. Located on High Street, it's ...

  • Great Fun in Canterbury!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/05
I had the time of my life in Canterbury, England! It is a charming town and I plan to return this summer. It is safe to let adolescents shop and wonder by themselves and the cathedral is magnificent. I spent a lot of time in that cathedral, after hours practicing for the International Childrans' Choir Festival, so i remeber it well. The home ...
