Unexpectedly fell in love
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/06
I was prepared to not like Istanbul. My friend picked it out and I went along for the ride. Well, my review title says it all - I fell in love with Istanbul. So much so that if someone offered me a ticket to leave this afternoon I wouldn't hesitate for a second. The people are so kind and very proud of their city. They want to make sure ...

Istanbul... where today and the past meet
By dreamjuliet4, 02/27/06
Straddling the Bosphorus, its skyline studded with domes and minarets, İstanbul is one of the truly great romantic cities. Its history tracks back from Byzantium to Constantinople to its place at the head of the Ottoman Empire. Today it hums as Turkey's cultural heart and good-time capital.
In this sprawling, continent-spanning city you ...

Just Great
By suzzlee, 02/22/06
I was there in the winter, a little snow, a little rain, no crowds! I had the Archological Museum to myself! I stayed in the sultamet part of town. The location was great because I could walk to all the great sites, and I was close to the great public transportation that the city has. I was a single woman traveling, it was a small hastle, a few ...

CITY OF DREAM
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/08/05
I can say lots of think about the city but however nothing could match my feeling about as A City of Dream. Safe, historical, warm, friendly, authentic, and sophisticated. Traffic is terrible almost everytime but who cares you'll got Bosphorous and Blue Mosque and Cistern and much more in a short distance to walk. There are lots of clubs ...

Shop, shop & culture!
By platon34105, 11/07/05
Fascinating, dirty, atmospheric city. Stayed in tourist area...loved it. Within walking distances of old mosques and palaces. Took local buses all over city...cheap,clean and safe. Couldn't find much latte but of course turkish coffee is in another realm! Local markets all over...shopping is superb. This seems to be one of the few remaining authentic-feeling, non-cloned cities within spitting distance of Europe.

Turkey rocks!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/05
I visit Turkey once every year or so, and I highly recommend it. For those who have already traveled through Europe and want something different - but not TOO different -then look no further. It is a great place to go for history, culture, food, and a cheap vacation. I highly recommend Istanbul, the Princes Islands, and the Aegean/Med. coast.
Best time to go would be fall or spring.

THE HIDDEN GEM OF EUROPE...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/05
The locals say that Istanbul is made out of gold because of better job opportunities and modern lifestyle . It's the New York of Turkey. However, I immediately liked Istanbul because of its beautiful hills, history and nice people. I think it takes at least 2 trips to really explore Istanbul. I can`t wait to go back there. Another place to ...
