  • The Enchanted City
    By Brandi, 12/19/05
If you only visit one European city in your life, please make it Venice. All of the rumors you have heard about it smelling bad or being dirty simply are not true.
When visiting Venice, one of the first things you'll notice is that there is practically no form of ground transport. To get from point A to point B, you either walk or go by boat. ...

  • Venice and Padua
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/06/05
Venice is of my favorite cities in Italy. I know it can be a tourist trap, but I love the beauty and the sea. San Marco Sqaure is absolutely mangificent in the early morning, although it may be completely packed with tourist as early as 9:00 or 10:00 am. The Campanile, the tallest structure in Venice, gives you a beautiful birds eye view of the ...

  • A nice change of pace
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/05
The first thing I noticed upon waking up in my hotel room was the serenity. The lack of automobiles in the lagoon city is a wonderful change of pace for those that may deal with the hussle and bussle of larger European vacation destinations. The only noises coming into my room were the distant sounds of shoes hitting the streets, and a worker ...

  • Breathtaking City!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/02/05
Stayed in Venice last August for 4 days at the bellini Hotel. Great hotel and location. Highly recommended. Took a Vapporetto (public transportaion) to all the site around Venice and to Murano Island. Saw Rialto Bridge, St Marks Square & cathedral and took a gonodla ride on the canal. Went off site a bit to Verona to see the 2nd biggest collesium ...

  • The magical city
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/10/05
My husband and I went last October 2004 and never imagined how beautiful and romantic this city could be. First of all, its historic value, and for that only, Venice is unique! It felt like magic at night...at Piazza San Marcos with the classical music coming from various caf

  • Be prepared to get lost. But remember it is an island
    By Leo B, 11/29/05
People were very friendly as is true all over Italy. However, if you go in November or December and go out at night be prepared to find yourself alone and you need to have a pretty good idea as to where you are going. It seems after 9 pm most locals go to bed.

  • Venice tips
    By Karyn B, 07/25/06
We returned from Venice 7/22. Overall we felt the city was the most unique and one picture post card moment after the other. Of all the places we visited we found the people of Venice to be the most intolerant of tourists. They have no patience and allow no room for error. Here are a few helpful tips that you might find helpful.

  • Home of Casanova
    By tungstino, 02/10/06
No traffic, quiet streets and canals. Good food. Music played in the church where Vivaldi used to play, and enjoy a good expresso and some dolce at the Piazza San Marcos after dinner while listening to the music played by 1 or 2 or 3 bands at the piazza, depending on where you sit. One can spend days or weeks in the doge's palace, churches, and ...

  • Lovely Venice
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/09/05
I loved shopping and cruising there, and riding on the canals. The food was wonderful and the people very friendly. However, don't go during the tourist season. Unlike London, Paris and Rome, Venice is NOT big enough to absorb all the tourists that invade it. When I went, the line to get into St. Mark's Basilica stretched all the way around ...

  • I have to go back
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/05
Venice was so wonderful. My family and I enjoyed walking everywhere. The people were so friendly and we stayed at a B & B. It was a great experience. I have been to Italy several times and this was my first time in Venice. I would go there again and stay longer.
