  • A touch of "European"Ireland
    By Ronda E, 06/04/08
Lovely city centre, but could have been anywhere as shops are the same as any british big town.
I did not get the expected atmosphere although people were very friendly and helpful.
Maybe I expected too much and did Not find the Cork of my ancestors but even in my hotel"The Clarion" NO Irish voices.
Ah well can´t have it all.

  • Working Class Town
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/06
You wont find much here. There is a little bit of shopping, but nothing worth noting. You can use cork as a point to see other places like Midleton or Cobh, but even those towns have only one or two sites to see. If you're up for more driving, just continue to Killarney as your base point.

  • its....ok
    By Jennifer, 01/04/06
Cork is ok. Just do not stay too long. Come down, go to Blarney (LOVED Blarney) and move on. There is very little to do in Cork. Its rather run down and...well, dull. Go somewhere up North, I hear its much better!

  • A city with an attitude (a good one)!
    By Justin, 12/07/05
I've lived here as a student for about four months and it feels like home. I would say that Cork is either good for visiting for a few days or for living, but maybe not for a long tourist type visit. there is plenty to see and do in the tourist manner for a few days, but it runs out of tourist charm pretty quick. It's real prize is the ...

Sometimes it feels like two lads could just ravage the city on 12 pints of bulmers. Other nights the city ravages you.

Cork is a grand place to visit, eat, and drink. Really, class people, everyone of them.

  • THIS PLACE ROCKS!!!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/05
What a find! Much much much better then I expected. I had stayed a few days in Dublin before venturing south to Cork, and expected a smaller version of the awfulness that is Dublin. I couldn't have been more wrong! Vibrant, friendly, compact and easy to get around, beautiful cityscapes (their main street looks stunning) and fabulous bars, ...

  • It is not a safe place
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/16/05
The boy lay in a pool of blood aged about seventeen, and he was crying. There were people walking by him and they all ignored him. When i saw him i went over to him and i asked if i could help him, all he could say was that they beat him up and they stole his shoes. This was in the city centre of Cork. I asked a security guard to call the police ...
