i have been in athens after about 10 years from my last travel, and i want to say that 2004 olympic games, made an incredible development in the city.Perhaps the most modern city in eyrope.

the land scape was bueatiful and there was so much to do we could hardly get all of it done in our three day trip! when we went in the summer it was h;ot i must say but it was bearable. we had to visit the parthenon and the museums. the homes are very typical but the hotels are magnificent!

I was not impressed by Athens at all. I expected much more. The city is not very clean.During my visit I stayed in the center location very close to Acropolis area near Omonia Square. I thought that the center of the city should be a very nice place to stay, but actually it was a mistake. Omonia Square is a very busy area with lots of traffic and pollution. Go visit the islands instead. The islands are nice and clean.

Great except for the exchange rate (weak dollar) and the usually garden variety simpleton Athens taxistas. (Do they really think that we're gonna pay 8-euros for a 3-euro ride?) We mastered the Metro the second day, bought a week long pass and we were on our way.
