Dresden has reformed itself into a nice tourist spot. I went in the winter of 06 and still found it has a lot to offer a tourist. Such as museums, food, drink and night life. I stayed at the Westin hotel along the river with a breath taking view of the river. Expensive but well worth it due to its location within the city.

Cool City

Dresden is a small city (about 20 Km). The most attractive places are Elbe river side, grocer Garden, Theatre Hall and of course Shopping centre. The communication network between the city is excellent. It has also some beautiful sites. I like the city.
The Schloss Hotel Pillnitz boasts an excellent location on the Elbe River, convienent to the Ald Stadt of Dresden. Day trips from here to Meissen, Moritzbug, Koenigstein, ect. are a snap. Not to mention the very comfortable & clean rooms, and excellent service from the Zepp family. Room views overlook the palace of Pillnitz, built by Ausustus ...

Favorite Christmas Market!

Ever seen a loaf of "stollen" the size of a Volvo stationwagon being pulled down the street by a team of draft horses and followed by twenty burly bakers dressed in kitchen whites? Only in Dresden!
Want to take a medieval dip into an outdoor hot tub and drink gluhwein by candlelight in the courtyard of the Zwinger? Only in ...

i like this city because it is very nice and every spring the elbe floods which is quite a site! My favorite neighborhoods are blassewitz and loschwitz, and i like neustadt, thought it is dangerouse. There is strating to be crime, thought it is relitivly safe. The thing I don't like is that stores aren't open on Sunday. Altmarkt gallery (by strassenbahn stop "Pragerstrasse" or "Altmarkt") is a big mall.

Can't wait to return to Dresden...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/05
Dresden is a cultural, historical, and exciting place to be. The transportation system is one of the best. It still has old world charm and yet it's totally modern. Will see you in May Dresden!!!

Dresden

I visited Dresden 5 years ago and liked it a lot. It's so historic. The Opera House and Museums are great too. The Elbe River tours are fun as well. Also, it is a gateway to The Czech Republic and Saxon Switzerland south of town
I enjoyed the area greatl. The city is very easy to get around and there are many things to do and see. The history and rebuilding of the Frauenkirche is an ideal example how people can work through adversity!
Dresden's a great city in and of itself, and one that not a lot of American tourists get to. You don't feel like you're at some sort of made-for-tourists Disneyesque place (e.g., Munich, Rothenburg, and, heck, most of Bavaria). The Bruehlische Terrace in the Altstadt has all the "major attractions" that are all worth seeing. ...

Worth a visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/03/05
Dresden is a lovely city with many contrasts. The arcitecture of old Dresden is very impressive and definetly worth a visit. Dresden was the "culture capital of old Germany" as I am always reminded by my Grandparents and a lot of that culture is still reflected in the old part of town, despite the unbelievable distruction in 1945. If ...
