Caught between the mountains and the Mediterranean sea, Marseille is in my eyes the most beautiful French city. It is the second city of France, next to Paris when in fact ... So much more beautiful than Paris! You cannot see Marseille without visiting La Canebiere, Marseille's most famous avenue. Take a turn to the right and walk down to Le ...
It has been a couple of years since I lasted visited Marseille France. About 10 years ago. Marseille was the first foreign country that I had ever visited ever. This would be the test plate for my love of Europe. It's a busy place just like New York or any other city in the United States except this happens to be overseas. The people are ...

A great French port city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/06
After getting off the TGV, getting around the city was so easy. There is great shopping and wonderful dining, especially if you like seafood. Don't miss the cathedral on the top of the hill, the view is magnificent. Try to get there for sun set on the Mediterranean and to see the city light up at dark is an amazing sight in itself.
I visited Marseille France twice in my life time. Late 80's and mid 90's. Busy place that's for sure! The food was excellent. I ate mostly from food venders and I ate at a McDonalds which proved to be very, very expensive! That's why it's important to find out which local restaurants are the best and lest expensive! Eat ...

I'd call it as a nice cozy city.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/06
I don't know if a city can be very cozy or if many would agree with me that Marseille is but I just got the feeling when I was there and that was an experience that came according to three weeks, so I don't know. Anyway, it was really nice there. It was so pleasantly warm and beautiful. The beaches were awesome and the harbors were cool. I wouldn't mind to spend another holiday there sometime.
Has a soul, breathes with every step, changes in every corner, surprises you when you leas expect it... Architecture is full of myths and legends throug centuries, people are great, weather is "always spring", and the food is an excellent mixture of the world cuisine... Marvelous city...

Marseille is filled with history, culture and friendly people! The beaches are beautiful and the architecture is amazing. The churches are especially beautiful. There's also nice places to hike along the beach. It's overall just very relaxing. I could wander the city all day!

The french Chicago
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/05
Character, raw, and balls. Great rhythm and achitecture. A perfect city to wander, a hell of place for the rambling man. Ideal setting for a crime-story. Uplifting with sinister seduction.

I'd love to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/05
I loved the architecture. I loved the shopping. Friendly people. With my weak French skills, I had no problem. Most shop owners spoke English!
