  • Helsinki is Mediocre
    By Gorkaki, 10/28/08
Having lived in Finland all my life, and having visiting most magor cityes in Europe, I found the heritage of Helsinki to be unremarkable and uninteresting in comparison to those of other cities. The city smal, only around 500 000 people, yet everybody living in city consider it to have far more cultural importance than it actually does. Not much ...

    By Mr.Thanh, 09/12/07
That was the first time I came Helsinki for business, and the most impression is forest af wood, and it's quite cool in the summer. But if you plan to stay in Finland for a long time, remember bring warm clothes and rain coat.

  • Helsinki - my dear hometown!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/07
I'm writing about Helsinki from the aspect of someone who's lived there from the day of birth. We're talking about a small city in the north of Europe, small in comparison with some big cities like London, New York, Paris, Berlin, Madrid, etc., but still a place where one can do, experience and discover so much. The public transport is ...

  • Helsinki-the gem of the Baltic
    By john, 07/14/07
From the first moment that I stepped into Finland's capital I felt Helsinki pulsating with a vibrant and friendly energy that quickly made me and other visitors feel comfortable and welcome.

Helsinki's attributes are too numerous to mention. One item that is remarked upon time and again is is its cleanliness, without being antiseptic. ...

I love the design Stuffs in Finalnd, they would be cheaper in those megastores such as SOKO and STOOKMANN. I stayed in Crowne Plaze Hotel which is one of the most beautiful hotel.Food in the city are expensive and not that ...

  • Hip Nordic Adventure
    By Sunshine, 10/13/06
I am now living in Finland, so I made many trips via this city to discover. Finnish are quiet and non-judgmental, and most younger speak decent English. The shopping and food is very nice, but expect to pay a decent price for Finnish cusine and fashion, such as Merimekko (literally means Mary's dress), Pentik, and Aarika. Avoid the cheesy ...

  • A must city, plenty of love!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/06
Early in the morning is the market with fresh foods, eating, craftsman and the great Finnish people. Shopping is easy as all speak English. Beware Department Store Stockman unless you like to step back 60 years ago. This store has not been updated since l950's and merchandise is hit and miss.
But on the plus side specialized retailers will ...

  • Helsinki Region
    By Lei, 06/14/06
Finland’s capital, Helsinki, together with its neighbouring cities of Espoo and Vantaa, is the biggest urban concentration in the country, with a combined population of about a million. As Finland’s busiest port, Helsinki spills across a group of Baltic islands and promontories, and its smart new suburbs extend into the surrounding forests and ...

  • Life in Helsinki
    By Ninnu, 03/22/06
Helsinki is sometimes referred to as "the Pearl of the Baltic Sea". A nice and relatively peaceful city. Good Shopping opportunities like Stockmann, Sokos, Forum, Marimekko and lots of small shops to choose from. A bit on the expensive side but you don't expect to get quality for a low price.

Plenty of inexpensive places to eat ...
