  • Filthy
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/28/09
Just got back from Brussels and what a shock. It is absolutely filthy, the buildings are covered in grafitti, the streets are full of beggars and it stinks of urine. The Government has negleted this city which is the doorway to Europe and the Eurostar making it no easy to get there. I will not be going back and as another reviewer has stated, either throw your shoes away or give them a good clean when you arrive home.

  • Dirty, miserable without charm
    By Christine, 09/15/09
I have done my fair share of travel in Europe and Brussels was the worst. I will start with the good, nice people and chocolate. Besides that, Brussels is a dilapidated, absolutely filthy, in a complete state of direpair, smelling like urine (human or otherwise) every 10 feet, graffiti choked, and boring city. Sure you can find nice parts but ...

  • Polluted, dirty and boring!
    By S, 06/24/09
Went for a day trip from London, apart from the Grand Place theres nothing to see. Brussels is dirty and a total rip off. Plenty of pickpockets (and police chases). Total waste of money, should have gone to Brugges or Lille.

  • Nasty, Scary city.
    By AllisonJ, 06/16/09
I would not recommend ANYONE going to Brussels, even if you are just passing through, do not stop there. No one cares about traffic laws (red lights are run, people constantly honking and shouting). This city is very dangerous and filthy.

Went to Brussels. It was my first airplane experiance. It was a long flight from Detroit. Once we got to Brussels I have to say it was a good time. Looking back. I think I would like to go again, eventually. When we were there I said it was an experiance, but I never need to come back. Now I think it would be fun to return. Helpful hints to first ...

    By Montana, 10/16/08
We just got back from five days in Brussels. Stayed near the old town square which is impressive and of course tried their choclates (good but not as good as a Hersey's Syphony Bar!)
The town museum was a bit of a dissapointment I thought all in french so did not know what I was looking at a lot, Collection of Manneqin Pis (Pissing Boy) ...

  • We say Brussels needs some Tlc
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/08
I am very fond of Brussels: a city with great history, architecture, museums, culture, and home to that internationally renowned private detective Tintin. But I do wish that the city fathers, with the helping hand of the Belgian government, would come up with a scheme to clean up and improve the general appearance of the city. I went to Amsterdam a ...

  • The Real Brussels Experience....
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/08
Prepare to throw away your shoes after your visit here. The streets surrounding the Grand Place are disgustingly nasty. Everything is overpriced. You can literally see all this city has to "offer" in less than 2 hours, WALKING on foot. There are plenty of pick pockets and shady characters here. Stop by for 2 hours, buy some ...

Brussels is indeed a boring city. apart from the chocolate and waffles.Nothing else is interesting.Food is more expensive then the uk with proper meals costing a staggering 15-20 euros. Could have better food in london with 10 pounds. The cobbled street around everywhere makes walking difficult. You need a good pair of walking shoes.A very dirty city ...

I went all over europe and Brussels was defintely one of the worst cities I had been too. First of all there's not much to see in tiny brussels. The main event in brussels is the little peeing boy which is such a let down once you go see him. My friends and I were planning on staying in brussels for just a day or so, but ended up cutting our ...
