The city of Salzburg is nestled between two mountains Kapuzinerberg and Mönchsberg and the River Salzach. It is a picturesque city with small alleyways, quaint colorful town houses, rich castles and palaces, with styled gardens and a large number of churches and monasteries.Salzburg is most certainly a city of music. It was the home and birthplace ...

We love Salzburg!!
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 04/12/07
We have been to Salzburg many times and I will never tire of it and the area. The Lakes region is a beautiful area, and we stayed at a Zimmer located between Salzburg and the Lakes region and it was very comfortable and the people very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. We love to visit the old part of the city. One day we came to some ...

Not one of my favorite places that I've ever visited, but if you like Mozart, the Sound of Music and marzipan, you'll love this place. Friendly locals, a must for any city I travel to, roam the streets like nomads. Check out the mountains, but come prepared for some cooler weather-even in July! All in all, an average experience.

Family connection

I love Salzburg! My mother is from there, and we are planning to return this summer. It is a beautiful city. Go to the castle and there is a tower that over looks the city- it is fantastic! Take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city. and cross over the bridge into Old Town. I plan to live there when I graduate college.

This was our first trip to Salzburg. We made it one of our destinations on our European road trip because my grandfather was there during WWII and said it was his favorite place. We loved it and felt like we were in Disneyland. The people are very freindly and the old town is exstreamly clean and safe. We are defenitly going back. We stayed in a ...

Beautiful old city. Recommend crossing the border into Bavaria to see what's left of Hitler's Eagle's Nest. The guy was truly nuts, but it's worth the trip because the scenery is spectacular.

Great place - wish we had more time
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 12/05/06
We spent three days and three nights in Salzburg. We stayed at the Renaissance.
Take the tours of the Salt Mines if possible.
The city tours are usually in a smaller van where you might feel a bit couped up. Good tour guides. Choose it only if you are short on time.
Remember that most of the stores close early on Saturday and are closed ...

definitely recommend Salzburg
By Greg M, 09/05/06
Salzburg is an amazing and incredible city. Everything is easy to get to. Most everything is in walking distance of the city center. Salzburg has a certain charm that other European cities don't have. I definitely recommend it. You can see all of the major sites and still have a nice enjoyable place to relax. It has an amazing view of the mountains and the river that ruins through town. i will be returning for a second visit!

The small pearl of Europe
By McQuackor, 09/05/06
Not only is it home to Mozart, but it is one of the oldest cities in Europe, showing true European architecture combined with the specific warmth and welcoming atmosphere of Austrian people. The city lived through all historical periods, bearing their marks. Medieval, Renaissance, baroque, classical and romantic, this city has seen it all, making it ideal for a trip with a good dose of history, culture and relaxation.

Why did I leave?
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 07/06/06
Spent two years here. The cleanness, the quietness, the cheapness, the beauty - all of these contributed to a wonderful experience. To say nothing of the beer! The Augustiner beer hall is where you need to go.
