Thai people are one of the most friendly people on earth. Even if you cannot understand what they say and they cant understand you - they are courteous and friendly genuinely. That is true for most of Thailand.

Definitely a different vibe from the rest of Thailand. More relaxed, less tropical. Most people head here for the shopping or the hilltribe treks. I enjoyed a 2-day trek, however, be sure to prep well (I took way too much gear without having any idea). The night market is also fun--good seafood there and bargaining. Buying trinkets from the tribes seemed a good value while up in the hills.

I can't really tell how many times I've been there. But all I know is that I've been there for many many times.. And I know exactly what people are going to see there.
