I lived there for three years 1990 to 1993, now I've just gotten back from a 17 day trip with my family- Taipei has changed in many ways. I like seeing the changes. Fantastic. everyone wears helmets now on scooters- MRT is up and running- and being expanded as well.

Taiwan was very beautiful. You could do the city stuff like shopping, or u could go for a nature hike. The people there were also really kind. A lot of them now are learning english and almost every public place has English. I found it very enjoyable. A good place to visit would be the Taipei 101, which is also the tallest building in the world.

Taipei is an amazing place with so much to offer. Pretty much anything and everything you need is right around the corner (or just downstairs!). Alot of stuff is better value. They have delicious fresh fruits and veggies!oh! the foods are great,night market here is captivating, people are friendly and educated.I miss being there and i love to come back there for a visit.

Pros

All of it. You don't need a car in this wonderful country. We lived there for 5 years and will be returning in 2008. The people are genuine, not ruined like mainlanders from the cultural revolution who always have a sense of distrust. We lived there for 5 years as well. This is my trip to Taipei. The people are so friendly, always smiley and warm. The food is great! There are so many interesting things to look at. Really very very fun!

Taipei is really a dynamic city full of energy. People are very friendly and Taiwanese people speak good English, especially in Taipei. Streets are clean and neat, not like Hong Kong, Seoul or Shanghai. A lot of great shopping places, I enjoyed the mall in Taipei 101 and the department stores near the city hall. The food is so great in taiwan, such as beef noodles, pearl milk tea, fried chicken, hot pot, bbq, minced pork rice....etc...Price is cheap and quality is high.
