This is slightly biased viewpoint but KL is reasonably priced with great food second only to Thailand for streetfare but we have much more variety in terms of other Asian, European etc. Taxidrivers can be a nightmare and public toilets are generally to be avoided unless you are a star on X factor. Hotels are the most reasonably priced in the world and generally Malaysians are warm towards visitors.

I grew up here, haven't live here for a long time but occasionally go home for vacation. Here are my thoughts

Pros: Food is very delicious and cheap and somewhat more hygienic than say Mexico or Vietnam etc. Shopping is good, public transport are cheap. Education system is not shabby either. A lot of friends and relatives got educated here ...

What bugs me? Americans who go to KL and eat at McDonalds and TGFs. There is good food of many types, Malaysian, Indian, and Hokian, just to name a few to be found everywhere. The best is in the stalls or family run establishments. Some don't even have roofs, but don't let that stop you. Just bring cash, these place don't take ...
