Kyoto !!!! Very nice place to go !!! We went on July 2008, very very hot and humid. We rode the shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto, it cost only $127.00 and it tool only 2 1/2 hours to get there, it's worth it. Shinkansen has a lot of room, clean, really fast too. When we got there, we stayed at Keihan Hotel Kyoto, kind of expensive but really ...
Kyoto was Japan's capital and the emperor's residence from 794 until 1868. It is now the country's seventh largest city with a population of 1.4 million people and a modern face.
Over the centuries, Kyoto was destroyed by many wars and fires, but due to its historic value, the city was not chosen as a target of air raids during ...
I spent almost three days in Kyoto in 2005 and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the mix of old and new in the city. Right next to shopping there are shrines. I enjoyed spending time in the stores and at the movies as well as hiking up into the hills.
Seeing the large characters on the mountains during the Daimonji festival was a great ...

My husband and I spent a month touring Japan and were not impressed with Kyoto. When we got off the train at Kyoto station there was a long, thick line for taxis and a long, thick line for buses. There was a 15 person long line at the English tourism office (we waited for 10 minutes and then left as we wanted to sight see and not wait in line), and ...
I'm sure many people reading this review will think I sound inaccurate or less than honey-tongued, but Kyoto simply fell short of being a great place to visit. Here's why.
First, Kyoto, as the so called cradle of Japanese culture, is architecturally bland. When I walked my first steps in Kyoto, I was rather disappointed. Instead of ...
Gion is one of the most famous of the Geisha districts. You'll love Kyoto. You shoud definately visit Gion, and try to spot the maiko(apprentice geisha) and geiko(Kyoto Geisha). Fun Fact: Geisha are not prostitutes, they're artists!
I went to KYOUTO five years ago on school excursion. A the time, it was the first trip to KYOUTO for me. I was moved by beauty and ancient mystery of KYOUTO. I visited Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji, Kitanotennmanngu etc. These are the most famous holy places in KYOUTO. However, you want to KYOUTO, you should visit other places, as well. I felt the ...
I love all of temples in Japan because they are mysterious.I think the most beautiful temple is KINKAKUJI.I went to there when I was a high school student. The atmosphere is spiritual.I didn't believe the Japanese god before, but when I went to there I feel a Japanese god or Japanese soul. So,I recommend that you go to kyouto and feel it. ^_^
