Was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan for 13 months. Did as much traveling as the Marine Corps would let me do on my free time. Out on the countryside, the people are so friendly. Japan is the one place that I would love to go back and visit again.

I think A-bomb museum gives you enough reason to stop by and at least spend few hours there.
If you have a time, take a light-rail or JR
rapid train to visit Miyajima shrine.
It is miracle that the building is still standing today.
