Last evening my wife and I treated our daughter for her 38 birthday and she picked the Savoy! Must say, with all the fine eatery’s now blanketing the city, we had forgotten all the great dining experiences shared in the past at your elegant and historical landmark restaurant. Nothing much has changed and I am glad. Just for the sake of change, ...

I was from out of town visting KC and accidentally found this restaurant. Saw the sign on the road and thought it was a small place to get a burger. The service is A+. The food was really good to, including the cinnamon rolls. The only complaint I had was the price. I guess if you are expecting more than a burger it is not bad. The inside of the building was amazing.

This is in a good location near the theatre and symphony hall district. A trip back in time, complete with dusty corners. Attentive service but bland food. My broiled dinner came breaded and fried.

I went to the Savoy Grill with a party of 10 on a Saturday night in December, 2007. The service was polite, attentive, and friendly. The food was excellent: salads, entrees, and dessert. The food does not come out quickly; be prepared for a leisurely meal. A very pleasant experience in a classic, classy restaurant.
One sour note: they ...

The Savoy is not what it used to be. A friend of mine is a former chef there and he left on his own terms after business had been suffering and they started purchasing their meat through Costco. What kind of 4 or 5 star restaurant does that?

Sad Disappointment - Dec 2nd 2006
By smokee504, 12/11/06
I recently took some close friends to a show in KC and suggested the Savoy Grill for dinner. I was never so disatisfied with the food and service with any dining facillity as with the Savoy Grill. A $150.00 bill, and I had to beg to get a drink for my wife and I have had much better seafood at Long John Silver's. The only good note, my ...

Savoy is better every time
By KansasCitian, 11/09/06
I have lived in KC all my life but only recently got to experience the Savoy Grill. The food was wonderful and the service was perfect. I can't wait to ask my husband to make that my birthday tradition. My drink was good too! At 1st I thought it was a bit too pricey but you do get what you pay for and it is all well worth it.

My wife and I have eaten there several times ... the first time, we ordered steak and lobster and the steak was too tough ... in recent years we have had the lobster tails ... and they have always been EXCELLENT! ... the service can be spotty, meaning at times exceptional but at others slow and disinterested ...

Overrated

I believe that the Savoy Grill has the ability to be the top restaurant in Kansas City. But I believe that it lacks the drive to get to that point. Having to send a dish back 2 times to get it the way I wanted, and it still not being cooked properly and then the other items on my plate just being replated. For the prices you pay there, you may get the service, but the food quality still has some things to work on.
