  • Overhyped and resting on laurels
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/12/07
I travel all over the country and have the opportunity to eat at fine restaurants from New York to Seattle, so I have a lot to compare with Tony's. As a St Louisan, it's sad for me to see an institution decline. Despite its relatively new location, Tony's is an old St Louis place that's resting on its laurels. Time is passing it by. ...

  • Tony's is Tony's
    By gmelz@sbcglobal.net, 04/20/07
We've just experienced another delicious and delightful evening at Tony's. Our table of six was, to a person, pleased as pleased can be with all that this legendary dining establishment offers.

I've been eating at Vince Bommarito's place since it was a few blocks north, near the Continental Trailways and Greyhound bus stations ...

  • The best Italian dinner.
    By Klu, 02/28/07
Tony's is an excellent place to enjoy Italian cuisine. Vince Bommaritto takes the time to personally greet each of his patron's and ask his or her opinion on the meal. If you are looking for an evening of fine dining and excellent service then Tony's is the place to go. It is a touch of elegance and a hearty meal while surrounding yourself within great company.

  • Slowly being passed up by other restaurants.
    By Matthew Wilkinson, 12/24/06
Should be placed on the "has been" list. The staff not well trained with knowledge or service eddicate. To a New York'er... it's nothing! A Tony's type restaurant on every corner. Other restaurants in St. Louis offer a more exciting menu and creative decor. "Hey TONY! It's time to reinvent yourself"!
My advice to other diners, spend your money someplace else.

  • If you're into that kind of thing
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/06
The food is excellent, the staff wonderful, the decor a bit uninspired. The only reason it does not earn five stars is because it tries too hard. Great service should not be noticed. A diner should never sit around wondering where the next course is, nor should it be rushed. At Tony's, the service interrupts the flow of the meal and the ...

  • Way too much service
    By Pete, 04/26/06
This is the kind of place that you see in movies. All the wait staff wears tuxedoes, your water glass is never close to being empty and the service is impeccable. The food is extraordinary but very classical, very rich, very tasty, and very traditional in the sense of the classical cuisine. You won't find foams or deconstructed anything here, just classic cuisine done in very well.

  • Great Experience. Worth the Money:)
    By bvrotree, 04/09/06
Tony's is a St.Louis institution and it shows. The service is splendid. If you have questions or needs, the staff is very approachable to help. The food is memorable. We had carpaccio, house risotto, the lobster albanello and veal. All were wonderful and finished tableside. For a special night out...you will not be disappointed. We'll be back.

  • A Valentine's Day I Will Never Forget
    By dwahby@sbcglobal.net, 11/07/05
Valentines day has never been as good as the time my husband and I and my cousin and his wife went to eat at Tony's. The waiters were so nice and so helpful, and we ordered the lobster with linguine, but it wasn't just that , they did this whole meal in front of us, and made it as though we the most important people in the whole resturant. ...
